What is this on this chestnut oak i just removed?

It is a solid black charcoal like color attacking the cambium layer and has pushed the bark off in areas that it is visible. Please help with identifying what this is..

Looks like Hypoxylon fungi. Usually infects weak or dead trees. I usually see it on Red Oaks in my area.
Same here where i am with the red oaks and i am familiar with hypoxylon and in my experience hypoxylon is usually a more grayish color and kindy powdery to the touch unless this is how it looks after that grayish stage and ive just never seen it this far along in its process.
