what does a tree climber look for

i enjoy the fact i survived another day . but i love when i walk in the door and i got two little girls huggin my legs saying daddy with smiles a mile wide. not to mention my extremly supportive wife. i still ponder what gives me the courage to put my self in such unnormal dangerous spots . i hate to think of leavin my girls behind

That's great motivation to make sure you don't put yourself in dangerous spots. I really have never felt that I was in any danger without knowing I was. That means that I made the decision to move forward because I weighed the possibility of an accident and determined that it wouldn't happen. I know I've pushed it at times, but you could always say no a and move to plan b. I have. Tree work is decision making with the highest level of repercussions imaginable. I say stay focused and make good decisions and go home safe every day.

This is very well said.

At this point in life I enjoy the sight of our house as I get closer (me and my wife added some serious curb appeal to it) then walking in the door to our two cats waiting at the top of the steps. Then seeing how my wife's day went.

That is a beauty.

I just don't like the news officials always classifying our accidents as "freak" and acting like we are such huge risk takers that could die at any moment. I don't buy into that. I would say that we are at a higher risk of injury or worse if we are not properly prepared/trained or if we lose focus. That is dangerous. I'm not some crazy lunatic that risks his life daily. Though some sure do!

I hope you didn't read my reply as a crack. I meant it literally.

I also have a problem working in clear conscience when the weight of danger is on my shoulders due the hype surrounding the industry.
