What do you think about the new Petzl Eject Friction Saver?

It better increase safety or else I'm not buying a Petzl product after the way they treated @treebing .

I bought 3 black diamond headlamps for Xmas this year. REI lets me filter by brand, so I just clicked on everything but petzl. In the past, I would have bought petzl headlamps because they've made such great headlamps for so long, but black diamond is making great ones too and I choose where I spend my money according to which companies treat people like Kevin the best.
I appreciate the sentiment, I really do. Its not necessary though. Please dont deprive yourself of good tools for my sake. If it makes your life easier, by all means do it!

Thanks Kevin, and sorry if I overdo it... What makes my life easier is peace of mind and great gear.

Petzl is not currently providing me peace of mind, so their tools aren't as great for me. I'm not confident that they would issue a recall if they should, because they copied your invention with no tact.

Petzl also may not be providing great gear. I'm not confident that they will tap in to the most capable product developer, based on the fact that they did not retain you for the Chicane development. That was a foot shot.

I do not think I am depriving myself to sleep well at night and work with great gear from manufacturers that operate differently than Petzl. I bought a ball lock D caribiner since the Chicane came out, so it's not a pure fringe ideological thing. I'll still reticently buy their gear when it is clearly best for a specific application. I think they have 2 or 3 pieces of gear that fit that description - the Zigzag for non-midline attachable MRT climbing, the ball lock D caribiner, and the easehook. Hard pass on everything else - harnesses, headlamps, caribiners, grabs, helmets, ascenders, etc.
