Greetings all,
I am new to the buzz, so I thought I would throw up a quick post to say "Howdie". I have spent many hours over the last few days, reading for the most part, very informative and well articulated posts (not to mention the witty banter that is often contained within). The pride and enjoyment that many of you have found in your careers is quite evident. Being that I am relatively new to the tree world, I am hoping that this proves to be a reliable source of information and guidance.
Since I am pretty "green" (sorry I had to), I will most definitely try to research my questions in the archive before posting. I realize that there is a TON of info available through this forum, and other people may have had the same questions that I might.
As for my professional background...I have spent a lot of time on rope (1000's of logged hours) working in several industries. So hopefully I will be able to contribute to some posts regarding climbing, rigging, etc.
But being that I am new to arboriculture, I spend a lot of time dragging brush, raking up, chipping, and paying my dues (so tree specific climbing techniques are still kind of new to me). I am fortunate enough to work for a small company with two very skilled and safe mentors. I have relished the opportunities that I have been given to work in trees, and look forward to progressing as an arborist.
Matt
P.S.-I can't wait to compete at my first comp. this summer. It should be a blast!
