Welcome ACRT!

It was brought to my attention today that this thread existed! I am an Arborist Training Instructor for ACRT and, unfortunately, was not aware of the Buzz until a few months ago when I first met @Tom Dunlap

My apologies for the delayed response to the welcoming of ACRT. If you guys want to wake up an old thread, I will be more than happy to share who we are and what we do!

More to come...

We do a lot Royce. Primarily UVM consulting. We're 100% Employee owned and work all over. Many of the top Fortune 500 utilities are our clients as well as Coop's and Municipalities. Gas, Electric, and water. I got my start in this field with ACRT and rejoined the team again a few years ago.

Assessment Consulting Representation and Training.

Kevin is with our Training Team and can tell y'all about that side. I'm an Operations Manager for us in the Northeast.

I started off at ACRT much like @Keith Pancake, as a Consulting Utility Forester for one of the southeast's largest electric utilities. I transitioned into the training department in July of this year.

As an instructor, I travel often (nearly 35 weeks a year) to utility, municipality, and private tree companies across the country who desire arboricultural training. At least once a quarter we offer training at our facility in Akron, OH (accredited by the Ohio Collegiate Board) where individuals and small companies can travel to us instead of us traveling to them (typically more cost effective for individuals and small groups).

As Keith mentioned, ACRT does a lot of work with utilities, therefore, we do a lot of Line Clearance Arborist Training (a great prerequisite for obtaining ISA Utility Arborist certification) for tree companies that want to get involved in line clearance work or desire a more in depth training than our Electrical Hazard Awareness class. We also do a great deal of Basic Arborist Training (a great prerequisite for the ISA Arborist Certification) for entry level arborists, Advanced Arborist Training, Aerial Lift Training, and other customized classes which could include any aspect of the larger classes, or more extensive training on particular topics such as: chainsaw safety and operation, chipper safety and operation, rigging techniques, etc.

Most of our classes include some type of skills assessment in the field, as well as Aerial Rescue (bucket and/or climbing), tree ID assessment, and knots assessment. Depending on the class that one attends, they will receive an ANSI Z133 standard (which we go over in class) and an ACRT study manual.

I think that about covers it, please let me know if you guys have any questions. You guys are welcome to contact me at kmyers@acrtinc.com or call the School Director, Lois Tennant, at (800)622-2562

I would love to hear more about ACRT and what they do. Anyway a residential tree care company can help you out in any way?
Royce, ACRT is more directed towards helping tree care companies through Arborist training, helping utilities through consulting, and providing arborists and other foresters of the like with a more diverse option of career paths. If I hear of a way in which you could help out (other than attending a class and providing us with feedback), I will certainly post it! (y)

Sounds like you can help me more than I can help you. What I am looking for is an outside program that can provide my company with training. I am way too involved with the operation, sales, and production to really delve into this. What I want is to set up a 12 session class. Once a month you, or a company similar would come in for the day and provide training on a specific topic. Is this something you guys do? Or know someone that does? I want to basically hire someone to come in and do the training while we continue to do our friday tailgate safety meetings.

This is definitely something we can do for you. If you'd like, could you send me a quick email with your contact information and what your needs are. We can continue the discussion off thread.

If we get enough people interested in an SRT class, we could definitely schedule one. If you are reading this and would attend and SRT class if it were offered, please respond by liking this post.

We would be interested in an SRT class. Also a crane assisted removal class. Just to keep refreshed. Proper bucket truck set up and working procedures is also a good one.

I would be interested to know if you have any positions available for seasoned veteran certified arborist that would love to travel around and train a new generation of young climbers in the safe way to production climb.
