weird round fruiting body up in oak

round , white, immediately staining dark brown when handled, heavy and soggy, fragrant (!)

Eastern PA (Bucks County)

about 25 feet up on trunk of dying back pin oak.

I didn’t take a picture because I figured I would be able to look it up by memory, but was unsuccessful.

I just spent a couple hours with the mushroom books i have and googling.

Anyone know what it is? Have a I found a new species? :) I would call it brown staining juice ball.

Thanks!

Paul

Gilled or polypore or other? Stem or not?

With all the rain we’ve been having the fungi fruiting bodies have been falling apart/rotting fast!
