Wedge-Grips

Been here much more than a while
Location
Findlay, Ohio
I know...its beating a dead horse, picking at a scab, stirring the pot, etc... Don't one-had your chainsaw either.

So we cabled a tree in October 2021. F2 Tornado hit the neighborhood last Thursday. I visited the property Monday... the tree didn't make it, but the wedge-grips held.

A pic down the street for perspective...it wasn't just here, it tore things up pretty bad:

And the wedge grips - no wire pulled through. The tree had grown around them enough that I couldn't get them out. I thought I might salvage them at $25 each. But then I thought about if I could get them out, could I ever trust them to re-use??? So I didn't try too hard.

Thanks for posting this, @ATH. We just finished a reduction and cable on a storm-damaged box elder on Monday. We don't do many cabling jobs but when we do it is always with Wedge-Grips. Never have had one fail and far prefer them over any other cabling system.

Just down the road as we were leaving... Didn't stick around to watch this unfold:

Kinda wish u had stayed. And filmed. And commentated as it unfolded. I feel like if more people had any clue how dangerous this stuff can be they might use better sense.

Then again, that limb doesn’t look big enough to really hurt if it lands on him anyway.
