washing rigging lines question

i washed 2 of my lines the other day and my 1/2" double braid had 3 places where the core material was bulging out of the cover so i milked the cover in the direction of the bulge and low and behold, the core went back in and the cover covered it up. none of the strands were cut or frayed and there is no flat spots or bumps when i run my hand down the line. my question is, is my rope now compromised?

1. Tie one end off to a tree.
2. Put a 4 coil prusik on that end.
3. Run the prusik down the entire length of rope to 'balance' it.

I've been in the business since 1969, and have never washed a rope in a machine. There are 'rope washing' tools for that.

Wow Norm. I wouldn't have guessed you were that old. The trees have been kind to ya!

I'll have to try your method Norm.

Washings ropes in a front loading washer is great brings ropes back to new condition with that great broken in feel.
I used to daisey chain them but recently purchased a rope wash bag (it rocks)

knots and kinking of the rope also take the rope to a laundry mat; my auto balancer broke when i washed the 3/4" line. rope washing bag. go get a ladies under garment wash bag. it is the same thing only way cheaper. although the under garment wash bag may be to small for a 200' 3/4 bull line

I put half a bottle of dish liquid in the washing machine, but only right before we leave the house. The other half works really good when you have a heavy Pots and Pans load in the dishwasher.

or

I wash without soap in the bathtub, repetitively rinsing with the shower head until clear-ish rinse water results. I drip dry for a while, then put it in front of a window fan to speed the drying process with electric wind.

My wife washes ours in a mesh bag using ivory snow at the laundry mat. Last time the washer overflowed with soap suds onto the floor. Had to rinse the rope twice. She said must be a little bit goes a long ways. :)

i occasionally wash my climbing line in a washing machine.

no detergent at all, gets very new looking with no detergent. i even put on gentle.

then hang up and air dry it.

usually only wash a climbing line after a muddy day of climbing and working in the rain.

looks like new when done

i've never seen one with fiber out or milking problem after a wash like i do it

never used a bag.
