What is the smallest double-locking carabiner that is reasonably strong? It seems that they are all about the same size. I wish someone would make a tiny one for me. Anyone know of an Elf Carabiner factory?

The closest I've been able to find is a screwlock carabiner from Black Diamond. The nice thing is the key lock gate rather than the pin style. They feel and look about 50% smaller and lighter than the Petzl Am'D and have a 25kn rating.
Go to www.gearEXPRESS.com and search item 2222SGB or Black Diamond Positron.

Ive got DMM/wales biners and two that may be small depending on your definition. First is the HMS at 23kN, second is the Lynx at 30kN.

Im not sure your going to find a SMALL one. The only locking biners on the market worth their salt are going to be regular size. And although I dont know it for sure, I dont think anyone makes DL biners less than 23kN. If they do, Ive never seen one.

oh, and never herd of the elf carabiner factory. Have heard of the Elf Toy Shop and the Elf Cookie Tree :)

Have you tried the Petzl Attache? It is an HMS style biner. I have one, and I love it. It is definitely smaller than the William Ball by Petzl. The Attache is gold-colored, with a manual screwlock gate. It is keyed, not hooked. Plenty strong, too.

jpk- I have a couple Petzl Attache' biners and the Positron is smaller, lighter and stronger. It's also about half the cost.
With the larger diameter shank, I used my Attache' biners in my homemade friction savers. I use the Positron biners for rec. climbing and the ball lock Petzls for work.

Actually guys, yes, the tiny carabiner IS for my tiny friction saver. I thought that would be a super convenient way to make a friction saver...use a HMS carabiner on one side and an "elf 'biner" on the other. The ones you've mentioned aren't small enough. It needs to be small enough that a spliced eye with a Petzl "P00" pulley (as a thimble) can't fit through it. I don't want to use anything screwlocking (or else I'd just use a Mallion Rapide Quicklink). Let me know when Keebler and DMM team up!

Hey, won't that super tiny carabiner on my keychain work?
