WANTED: small chipper

Jim,

Glen P has a small chipper. I dont know if he wants to sell but, I dont think he really has a need for it. You could always make him an offer.

Ooops,

Sorry, yes it is.

I think its a vermeer 630, not sure though, could be a bandit.

Its a yellow 6 incher, much like the infamous one you used to own. Which I might add, was always a pleasure to feed.

I have a 625 here in phoenix az that is in brand new condition...auto feed..new motor..new main bearings and new autofeed unit. I got a bigger truck and need somthing a little beefier. This 625 rocks though!

Im not sure what they are going for..let me do a little research. It would be hard to let her go as we are kind of in love. Ill get back with ya real soon with a price.

oh ya..it has a new bed knife and a spare tire too

Arbor, you obviously like that chipper alot. We have one and I think it is the worst chipper that I have ever used. Do you have any tricks on how to make the brush feed better without getting wedged in the throat? Our machine is about 6 years old and has around 1000 hours on it. It used to work much better than it does now so it very rarley goes out anymore, except for with the shrub pruning crew. Sorry that I kind of got off topic, but jim needs to hear that not everyone is real happy with the 625.

Well...Its slower for sure. The crotchy stuff that wont fit...obviously gets cut and tossed to the side.
Its great for pruning. but the bigger stuff needs to be nice and straight. Sometimes,I will make little 1/2 cuts on branch unions so that they will fold when the feed wheel grabs it and pulls it in. Everything over 5 inches is firewood. Thats just the way it is.
The 625 is not for everyone. I run a small outfit (usualy just me) so the 625 is a good call for me right now.

I swap bed knife edge EVERY time i do a knife change.
I make the gap between the bedkife and knives paper thin.
I keep rocks and dirt from going through.
One time I had to unwrap a bunch of fiborous stuff from around the main bearings. (that held up the machine quite a bit). Most of the power is in the momentum of the cutter wheel, not from the power of the "mighty" 27 horse Kohler :)
If your bearings are shot or of the wheel dont spin freely, then yes the machine will bog down.

um....I dont know what else say other than the fact that I do admit its not as fast as a bigger machine.

I still like it :)

The bed knife thing is a great suggestion. I dont even have the foggiest idea when we adjusted them last. What about sharpening the feed roller? Guys at work say they used to do that years and years ago, but I dont think that will help since they dont even look that bad. Maybe replace the springs? Thanks for the input so far!

I just picked up a bandit 150 and am tossing around the idea of getting rid of my vermeer 625. I'm located near Cincinati, Ohio. PM me if you are interested.

I'm looking for something cheap,(that should narrow the search)I won't be using it that often, as I plan to pull it with my john deere gator.Thats right , I got kind of a toy thing going on here.
