Walnuts and branches falling from walnut tree

The Walnut in my back yard is droping nuts right now, this is the average time of year for it, on a heavy nut year clusters of 4 or so nuts can bring the twig there on down with them. Your problem sounds normal to me. so Prune to thin

Is there any die back in the Tree? because there is a new Walnut specific pathagen call Thousand Canker Disease making the rounds (shouldn't worry to much, i haven't seen it yet, just something to look out for)

This is the time of year for Walnut owners to wear a hardhat.Normal behavior for this tree clusters like said some small branches will break off.
Tea they just found 1000canker in PA. Talker to a forester in Corning,NY 15 min to PA border seemed a little worried as we looked down a road that had Walnuts though out the comunity. If this is like EAB will be logging Walnut soon.

1000 canker disease is a nasty one, no treatment as of yet and it kills the tree in one season maybe two. timber value after infection is $0.00 due to the black staining it causes. Black Walnut is one of my favorite trees so im not looking forword for this one.

I hear you out of the 10 mature trees on my property 8 are Black walnut. Have tons of sapling and 4-12' ones this fall transplanting out in the field and some of the neighbors. I usually rake up the nuts and toss them around the field and in the woods. have to tell people not the roundup the sapling cause they look like Sumac.
