VT climbing friction hitch

I have started to use the VT friction hitch and really like the way it functions. I use a one eye splittail and the blakes hitch. I dont get the lift with the two eye splittail that I do with the one eye . I know the lenght of the splitails come into play. I was at a climbing and rigging seminar and the instructor extended the length of the two eye splittail so it had the same length as the one eye using an extra carabiner. Can someone help me out as how to do this?

I guess you would tie your vt with a REALLY long eye-eye sling? Why would you do that, though. You could also tie your VT like normal (with a 30" eye-eye) then clip the biner to it, then clip a sling to the biner to extend it away from you?

Maybe you need to get us some pics to show what you want?

WELCOME TO THE BUZZ, by the way

Sorry if I confused, I use the blakes with a one eye splittail. I have been trying out some of the advanced friction hitches an the vt seems to be one that I really like. The problem that it seems to have for me is that I cant get the lift on each stride likeI can with the one eye splittail. I can footlock up to my tip an then change over to the vt but I was curious if anyone else used the set up where you extened the distance from the vt itself to the clipin point on your harness.????like I saw executed at this seminar. thanks David

oh, i think i know what you're talking about now.
you need to unclip the v.t,pulley, krab unit from your harness.......tie a midline know about 2ft away from your spliced eye, and clip the v't into that knot.
im sure someone on here will have a picture of that setup.

D5,
Try talking with Rich on here about his anchor bridge system. It's a great system where the vt can be far away from you while ascending the tree and then move the vt down so it's next to you for working off of and control.

Rich is the MAN! and the anchor bridge rocks. I was using a split tail blakes up until a week ago and i'll never go back to it.If you like to body thrust the anchor bridge cant be beaten. hand over hand over hand, no slack. The VT is also new to me but i love it,ad a micro pulley and up you go. the best part of the AB is the anchored pulley you set before you go up. as Rich says...redundant safety
