vintage mcculloch 140 rebuild

I've got one! inherited it from my grandpa, that saw must be about 25- 30 years old.

I had it running briefly about 10 years ago where I used it to cut small side branches off a pine tree, it worked fine if a little weak in comparison to the Ms200 which is too be expected. It seems reasonable well built. I'm sure mine has manual oiling though, can't remember for sure. Its out in the garage under some other stuff, I'll dig it out and post some pics soon.

Oh yeah, nice Telecaster, but 2 carbs with the curry? rice AND cous cous? is that a good idea?

Is this the saw you have? I may have one that I found in the trash, it looks like that, it's an older Mac top handle that is very heavy by todays standards, it's pretty messed up but it was free and doesn't take up much room.

I have 2 older saws, a bit older than your Mac.

This one is all intake and feels to have good compression still, guarantee it won't run, gaskets will have dried out. My neighbor gave it too me in excahnge for some work. It was in there house that they bought in 1973 and it sat in the same place until this past summer. It's in great shape. The bar rotates 90 degrees for when you need to cut a tree down. I guess back then, carbs only ran in one position.

Jeez ya, its a cool saw. Had one from 1977 vintage, think it was a 110 Mac, can't rememers. Ran like a top, not like a 200t but good. Sold it to a young weekend gogetter and he made $1500.00 his first job. Talk about payback! LOL. Asked him if he wanted to sell it back he just laughed and said it was waaaay better than the 192 he used at work. Only complaint... "its HEAVY". Ya, I think the vintage bug has bitten. ENJOY!!

yup thats the saw. it doesn't fire up though. it turns over and has good compression but i think it floods soo bad that it leaks out of the muffler. could also be that im using 50-1 gas ratio. i think the older saws ran with more gas and less oil.
