FORESTRY TECHNICIAN
The Village of Lombard is seeking two (2) Forestry Technicians in the Urban Landscaping & Forestry Division of Public Works to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks and equipment operation work in the trimming, removal and planting of trees and shrubs on Village-owned property under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works. Duties include: maintenance and removal of trees including properly installing rigging and equipment as needed and adhering to safety standards. Respond to emergency work situations 24 hours a day, which include but not limited to: plowing or salting streets, storm damage, assist in repairing water main breaks, etc. under the guidance of responsible crew. Operates equipment such as chipper, aerial lift, large front end loader, snow plow, dump truck, etc. Assists in the maintenance of equipment, including routine field adjustments and repairs. Comply with all personal safety rules and regulations, both written and verbal as instructed by the supervisor or other governing agencies. Ability to use various computer applications where necessary. Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., ability to earn within (3) three months of date of hire the State of Illinois CDL Class A Drivers’ License with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsements and ability to earn within (12) twelve months of date of hire the International Society of Arboriculture Arborist Certification, State of Illinois Pesticide Operator License, Flagger Certification. Tree Climbing and/or Prescribed Burn experience is a plus. Starting salary is $44,625.
