using a prop for storm damaged tree support

I hear what you are saying, but... You are assuming a lot of things in a storm damage situation that may or may not be true. When I do storm damage I always operate under worse case scenario. Like that tree not sitting back in the hole and the holding roots being compromised and causing that tree to roll off your prop. In my storm damage experience if you want to secure something it needs to be done from at least two separate points. That one prop only really keeps that stick from falling straight down, the roots are the only thing keeping it from moving side to side.(you think the roots are secure, but cant be sure.) I would never put a climber on that stick with just that prop. I know that it worked for you and have seen it used, for me personally there are too many unknowns. Did you climb to get it off the roof or bucket? If you climbed what did you tie into?
