As long as you don't just do straight pulls st super slow speeds. We need something closer to real world use.

his "slow pull" is so much faster than the machines they use for standards testing, but I mean more with regards to the setup of the sling around a log with some bark on it rather than in some variation of eye to eye pulling

until the break tests are done, here's a thought I had regarding the doubled over increase in strength...
if one side of one pocket is completely severed, rendering that one pocket useless, all the other pockets still function. To me that indicates there is some strength in an ultra sling that is beyond 1x of a dead eye. The question is how much reduction do the triple brummels impose.

Here are some numbers on splicing break tests I had done on some slings I spliced. Arbsession.com broke them. They were girthed on a 4" bollard (see notes). I used 1/2" Tenex Tec with an average breaking strength of 13,100 lbs. The loopie was strongest breaking just over 20k, then ultra/pocket girthed on last pocket around 15k, then whoopie at around 11k. This make sense to me based on bends and construction. I was however surprised at how strong the loopie was. Because of this there is again a place in my rigging arsenal for loopies where I had previously dismissed them because they can be cumbersome, imo.
I intend to make a remote rigging sling with 100' of 1/2" Tenex Tec dead eye with locking brummel. If it I have a dead eye with locking brummel in the 1/2" Tenex Tec broken, I will post the graph. Then there will be at least 1 break test per style. Obviously this is not definitive, but useful information for me at least.

Amazing, thank you. I too stopped using loopies a long time ago because of the tedious adjustment. I'll take another look at them. Loopie and ultra sling both broke well above average MBS...
How big was the bollard in the test?

BTW I remember you remarking something like, "Who uses loopies anymore anyways?" I'm a post or something along those lines and sharing that sentiment . After this test I have given loopies another look.

I think I was talking about whoopies but yeah, I haven't used either in years. I'm definitely going to play with the loopie again after seeing these results. Wish there was the same test done on a deadeye to compare...

I intend to send one off to be broken, a dead eye with locking brummel in 1/2" Tenex Tec as well for my own information. I can post that info when I get it. I just ordered the cordage today.

I wonder if the dead eye will break similar to the whoopie. The whoopie had no taper as per Samson instructions. When I splice the dead eye, it will have a taper.

Someone else will have to do the straight bury. It scares me for impact loading However, I can certainly get over that fear if someone proves otherwise

These are "The Crane Man" 3/4" quantum x slings sold by Wesspur. The eye is made with a straight bury. This is a class 2 rope. The wll is 7056 lbs at 5:1 of what I assume (NOT KNOW) is an MBS in break testing of 35,280 lbs.

Samson recommends full bury, it is supposed to be stronger. I don't think their splicing manual even shows how to do brummels. Really looking forward to seeing the results from your deadeyes John.

I had 3 3/8 Tenex Tec brummel dead eyes broken with different tapers and buries: 1 from the TS vid with Peter DeVries broken at about 88% ABS, 2 brummel with length of taper and bury adapted from Samson's straight bury instructions broken at about 92% ABS and 3 Brummel dead eye from teufelberger instructions broken at about 88% ABS.
I don't know whether the 92% is an anomaly or would be consistent with only 1 data point. However it is a longer, more gradually tapered bury.
