Ultra-sling hybrid

This one right? https://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?category_id=455&item=13511#detail
Seems like you could use locking brummels for one end (block eye) and the "pockets" and then a mobius Brummel and tapered bury for the ring. I think it's as simple as you are thinking. I don't think there is a considerable strength difference between the two Brummel styles but I would want the block eye (thus locking brummel) to take the majority of the load if used in a basket configuration. I assume that's your intention, using block and ring like a ring and ring friction saver...

Levi, the mobius Brummel is when the tail is tucked through standing part twice then buried. A locking brummel is when the tail is tucked then the standing part is tucked through the tail before bury.

Reed. Remote block and ring combo in a basket, choked with the ring, choked with the block as the main rigging point, so useful in all configurations. I like it!

Why not just use two xrings and take te heavy block out of the equation all together? I'm working on one of these currently. Is there a reason that you want to use the block?
I'm just wondering because I've toying with this idea myself, and decided on xring rig saver.

Two x rings would be cool too. I think that the ability to add a block in would add to the versatility of the sling. A block will always add more efficiency to a haul or lift system with a better than appropriate bend radius and frictionless sheave. Also a block is midline attachable. My two cents.

Here's a vid of the McDonald Brummel (same as Mobius?)
In all honesty though, I bet if you made your locking brummel eye for the block 1st, you could tape it up into a taper, and then spread the strands out good enough to get it to fit through on the other end, and use it to just make another locking brummel around the ring. Never tried it with larger Tenex but usually larger=easier. That's the method I use when I make i2i hitch cord with HRC.

Good points. And without the block you could still girth hitch the ring as another rigging redirect. I guess I rarely open my blocks if I don't have to, so the midline attach ability isn't as important to me right now, but definitely worth taking into consideration. Thanks for your responsesresponses

I would offer more ideas but Worthaug thinks they're all stupid.:D

Anyway, everyone knows that people from South Cakilaki are smarter than people from North Cakilaki. Except maybe Gordon (surveyor). Oh yeah, and treezybreez.
OK nevermind, I'm digging myself into a hole here. Don't mess with the mountain folk. Carry on. :birra:

Logic, I look forward to meeting you someday, hopefully soon, and hopefully in a tree[emoji4]

Well I'll give ya a shout next time we head up your way for a vacate. Love me some NC mountains...and the breweries in Asheville.
Do the same if you head down near Charleston some day.
