Tweak your rig!

Cityclimber,
Did you cut that rubber out of a solid sheet, or is that an over the counter item? I like that idea a lot. We bought one of Sherril's "Blue Bandits" but it broke after a few uses. Waiting on a relpacement now.

Theres no direct connection between cityclimber's saddle and natural crotch rigging. Besides the obvious. I had only made a reference to a discussion at the Treehouse.

The rubber came with the ice clipper from black diamond, they sell for 6.95. i would not trust the plastic biner for much in tree work though.

I just put these suspenders on my Versatile. I had to take them apart to get the quick buckle in there.

And the back. I eliminated part of the suspenders and used the biner instead. I'm not totally happy with that.

Here is how I keep a biner stationary for chainsaw attatchment. Good old zip ties!

[/ QUOTE ]

Cory, forget the zip ties.

Take a look at the attachment and you see there is a piece of webbing there where you can 'park' your biner. In this spot there is no 'walking' of the biner and there is no need for the zippies. The biner stays nice upright too.

I don't think it was there to be found

I clip my handsaw scabbard directly to my right side D-ring on a butterfly 2. It keeps the scabbard from tangling with my chainsaw, prevents twisting, and theres plenty of room for my lanyard snap.

Watch out with the clipping your scabbard to the D-ring Rocks and Trees.
If the 'scabbard clip' you use is a fully functional climbing biner than you are fairly OK in that set up.
If you use a toolclip than you're playing with your life.

Imagine that you lanyard in onto the D-ring....
Now imagine that you think you lanyard in onto your D-ring but it actually is the not rated/not triple action toolclip....

My scabbard 'toolclip' is one a legloop and the 'toolclip' is a rated red coloured climbing biner (just in case I'm gonna clip onto the bugger).

I just switched mine to the side D for a try. Thanks for the tip.

So who else has a idea for a simple modification that makes a big impact?

CityClimber, Do you think that Ice Clipper would be strong enough for saw storage? I use a bungee lanyard with all saws, so there would be a backup to keep the saw from beaning somebody. And really, I'd only be using that on my prunning saddle, so rarely a saw bigger than a 200T.

Since you use a lanyard and only plan on hanging a ms200 from it, i would say what the hell, give it a shot. I think some one on here said they were using the Petzl caritool to hang their saw on. The Petzl one is also plastic but it has a "hook" instead of the rubber holder. http://www.backcountrygear.com/catalog/climbdetail.cfm/PET228

I looked up the Black Diamond one at a few places and they do not show it with the rubber piece. I would email or call when you order it to make sure they still come with it. http://www.backcountrygear.com/catalog/climbdetail.cfm/BD802
