How do YOU alter or amend your saddle in order to be more productive?

What got me thinking of this... I was looking at pictures someone had posted where they used the small ring on their Butterfly 2 with a key biner to attatch a handsaw scabbard. When I got my B2 I didn't like that option. There seemed to be a lot of slop and opportunity for the scabbard to twist, making the saw had to draw. The attatchment shows how I dealt with that issue. By attatching the scabbard in this way the ring became available to hang the tail of my lanyard from. I think this extra weight on the back of the scabbard helps to keep it from twisting too much.

*I also put a piece of heat shrink tubing on the key biner gate to keep it closed.

Last idea isn't really tweaking, but isn't worth its own thread. Instead of carrying a double pulley for a redirect, I got two of these $4 Petzl beauties. I haven't tried this yet, but couldn't resist putting it out there.

I keep my Silky Natanoko in the stationary biner at the right hand side.

Stops it flopping around, you can also customise the rubber part of the silky scabbard so that it'll take a biner allowing the scabbard alsways to sit right where you need it, close to you.

great photos

Been wondering where I could find those ever since you said
something to me about it. Hook me up link master! Do they work decently?

Roger, you can go get them at Quest for the same price. But I'd call first. I bought the last two on the rack. I haven't tried them yet. We're prunning tomorrow, so I'll try to use it at some point. Talk to you soon...

Hmm! That looks like a great cost effective idea. Let us know how it turns out.

I keep all sharp object stuff (gomtaro, chainsaw etc... ) on right side and then softer stuff on left (lanyard extra biners, straps etc...)

watch out for those ball lock biners, that one looked like the newer one?? but still I'm a bit sketch on them after finding I had a petzl ball lock and the ball didn't even work and made it a two act instead of a tri-act...

Cityclimber, is that a modified Butterfly saddle? With a versatile bosun? If it is, I bet you prefer natural crotch rigging

Cheers!

I tried that redirect today. It sucked. Big ones. One end of the rope slid off its sheave, then the other one. This was after 2-3 minutes. Any other thoughts on how to use these things?

Inztrees, how were you planning on using in conjunction with a distel? A link for the sheave is listed above.

Yea, i'm a bit of a throw back. I've been trying for years now to come out and watch some guys use that new fangled gear i see in the magazines, but everyone goes into hiding when i ask.

I simply got out the 80 pound spectra thread and sewed the provided webing and clip from my zubat directly to my saddle. Works fine for me.

city climber, what do you mean you dont use a lanyard?

Kentucky sawer, thanks for the tip on zip ties. I was using that biner in the same place but definitly frustrated with the flopiness

what does natural crotch rigging have to do with a modified harness. I take it your assumption was right but I dont understand how you made that connection.

I do not use a lanyard on my saw, just a strap with a ring. Sorry for the confusion.

Another option instead of the zip ties would be a heavy rubber o ring. Here are a few pics of what i use to carry ice screws, they are made by black diamond. The rubber straps would work on any biner though.
