Steve Connally

Been here much more than a while
96 Topkick, Rayco Super 50, 14k GVW dump trailer, 2001 Dodge 2500 4x4,log arch, Morbark Blizzard 10, 2 200t, 361, 440, 441, 660, 088, HT101 Pole Saw, BG55 Blower, all my rigging gear, chain oil, gas in cans, rakes, cant hooks, wedges, axe, pole saw, you name it I got it. Wood splitter, bench grinder, 2 doz spare chains, unwork sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, stickers, chaps, helmets, eye pro, ear pro, gloves the whole shabang. The only thing i'm keeping is my own personal climbing gear. Literally, you could get the keys and go to work tomorrow! Please, serious interest only. I'm looking for 90k but I am somewhat flexible depending on what you want and don't want. I'm looking for the entire thing to go but would separate out the Dodge and MAYBE the stump grinder or trailer. All my stuff is in good condition. There is just too much stuff to list here. The only things I don't have are a Swinger and a GRCS. Wanna talk turkey? Call Steve 757-560-6944, Portsmouth VA. I will send pics on request.

All the saws are in good condition. The 1 200t has been rebuilt and has a tempormental carb. Ocassionally needs to be adjusted because the idle creeps up. Other than that, all the saws are great as well as the pulleys. I've got the 3/4 stainless arborist block, both sizes of the Spring Blocks, 4" stainless pulley with bearings.

Full time I'm a professional firefighter. I've had this gig on the side for 3 years now. It started with a pickup and a saw. I've expanded to keep up with demand and grown to the point I just cant do it with the amount of time I have to give. It is just too big to be part time and it is really taking a toll on me and my family. I just cant work 2 jobs and do everything else it takes to run a sucessful business. Also the employee issue is killing me. I can't keep part timers, can't keep full times busy for 40 hrs and can't find another climber woth their salt who's not a dirt bag. I'f I keep going like I am and turn jobs away, I don't make any money. I just sustain where I am. If I scale back, I can't do most of the jobs I come into. SUcks, i've put a lot of sweat into this and am pretty proud of having my OWN. For now i'm just gonna climb for somebody else.

Send me an e-mail and I'll get you pics next week. arborcare@verizon.net

Lets see, retirement, health care and 15 years till I can retire pretty young? You tell me.......plus I can still be an arbo for somebody else while I fight fire full time. No quitting here.....I still wanna climb just not the headache of running the show!

Bartlet want to talk to me about purchasing my customer list. Does anybody have any experience with this? The problem is I don't think they'll help me unload the equipt. I have to unload the chip truck/chipper befor I can sell individual items and the economy is so bad I'm having a bear of a time selling. Advice?

I have been keeping an eye out for chippers what are you asking for it also what motor does it have > Sweet chip truck is it gas.

Morbark with a 90 Perkins. 23k. The chip truck is gas and has about 65k miles on it. Good shape and I have spare knives for the chipper. It has less than 1k hours on it. Awsome chipper!

I can not find any info on a morbark blizzard 10. What year and auto feed crush override? Is it a 10" drum chipper. Every search I do comes up with the morbark 12.

I heard a rumor about a local guy selling out to Barlett within the last few weeks. Deal was all set to go... the local sat down with his lawyer and Bartlett's... their offer went down 100K from what it first was... that's what I heard at least. No equipment in the deal either... he was gonna have to sell all the equipment himself. One of the guys who told me about this deal did say though that when Barlett or another large company looks into buying a smaller outfit... they want to see revolving accounts and more importantly spray work.

I'd put Barlett on ignore if I were you.

Just my .02's worth.

If they were truely what they claim to be, why would they need to acquire your list? Not the way to run a tree company.

Did Bartlett's talk to you about continuing in the business for a period after they purchase? That's how they've expanded into Canada. They approached a number of small co's here, my employer being one of them.

Look at all buyers to get a sense of the market. Have you spoken to your accountant or an accountant about an evaluation of the business' worth?
