Tueifelbergur Platinum

Hey I've been interested in trying out this rope and the price is right being as it may not be for me either. I picked up that escalator deal at tree stuff as well, not the best line but useful for the great price! Actually wondering if the platinum will be on there deal list soon. Both ropes that had high expectations but by working reviews failed to deliver. I'll send you a PM Tyler.

If your still in the market for a rope selection, try the HTP snakebite 11mm, I picked it up about a month ago and it's amazing for srt, very little stretch to it and it's a fair price 200 I think for 200' I like better than the platinum, way less bouncy IMO

I have never heard a good review of the platinum. I don't like the sterling htp. I think Yale kern master or new England escalator are the way to go. The escalator is very static and it gets better with time.

Have not tried the Kern master yet. Although I have to say my go to rope ever since I tried it has been the Vortex. I keep looking for a rope I like as much but for me that's a tough challenge. Keep in mind I don't climb 300 foot trees so speedy ascents and zero bounce are not even in my thoughts.

Vortex is great and very static in my experience. It can get a little heavy over a long day though. I really like it in the hands and it's response to hitches as well as mechanicals is very reliable and solid. I like that you can get away with pretty much any hitch. The skinnier ropes are much more finicky. Vortex is a great selection. If you find yourself pulling it over redirects all day you start wishing it were lighter.

its good. not as self tending because of the thickness but I have had some good climbs with it. I always enjoy the extra grip

10.5 platinum has been great with ascenders for about a year now, no weird picking or hockling. You must be using it wrong, haha. But I don't do SRWP with it, The Fly for my wrench works great and cheap too.

I did use a complete tie in with blakes just for fun with the platinum and it worked well except for being too skinny.

I may be the only one that likes Platinum as it is. I like Tachyon. I like Blue Moon and Imori. I like rope, and I choose the rope and anchoring method based on the performance I need for the climb. As a working arborist, I can't be buying every single rope out there to find the holy grail. I have to make the best with what I have. SRWP brings out the need for completely new rope designs based on ideal % of elongation if we want one line that covers all our needs. Somewhere around 1.0% to 1.5% at 225 lbs. is usually good in my opinion. If a rope is too static, it can't absorb energy very well, and if the tree is flexing so much to compensate, then you may want to re-think your redirects. I find the only time I feel a rope is "bouncy" is at the very beginning of a long ascent. Once I'm up and working, there's usually far less rope in my system between myself and the last redirect so I don't notice any problems.

Have to say that I agree with you Eric, and that Yale blaze/bandit is a really solid all-purpose rope-very low elongation (check the numbers), easily spliceable, fine for Ddrt, tight jacket, and not to mention very reasonably priced. Worth looking into

observations to share.
Working really well with the LJ in double and single with RW.
Used it last week in major crown reduction of a few lg Hackberry and it held up very well
considering the bark is very grabby/picky.
The 10.5 is very solid considering the LJ grabs and releases really well in comparison to
the 11mms like velocity and Gleistien I have been on for a few yrs.
Its my go to rope now for ascent and work climb.
It is considerabley lighter it is 10.5 after all
I j find if you curl the rope from finger tips into
the knuckle rather than the palm, your grip is stronger and less tiring and my aches and pains
are negligible. I climb glove less as well. I believe the psi gription is greater this way.
Going to attach the SJ to this rope full time this week and let you all know what that is like.
Just speculating but I would guess all the mechanicals will love this rope due to it being pretty round and
solid all through a climb and down a full descent of 60 ft or so.
I ahven't been on any other 11mm for a quite a few yrs but from what I can remember others flatten out and
bunch up considerabley more.
Platinum is closer to perfection imho because smaller, lighter, safer, stronger is what a working rope needs to be for me.
Cheers
