Internet forums would be much less prone to these problems if everybody that wanted to post was required to make their name and contact info public to the forum. The hubris would be less pervasive, that's for sure. Anonymity allows people to treat others in a way they might not otherwise.

I was typing this in a thread the other day and as I was about to post the whole thread was deleted by admin. Anonymity allows users to be much more bold in what they say.When a person posts their identity all that they say is now a reflection of their character. Therefore like myself I will read and reread everything making sure that when I post I am completely sure I want this to go on my personal record due to the fact that it reflects who I am as a person. That's just me and my opinion, I am very outspoken and have never once been called a coward. I will sign everything I say and live with the consequences, this helps me to try and think before I speak. Thank god I stopped drinking alcohol 7 years ago, I now apolizise less for unthought of bursts of speech. Just my humble 2 cents. Paul.
