TreeStuff and SherrillTree Join Forces

Yeah it is.

Where will the money come from:

Thin air, employee's wages, higher prices to the consumer or stockholder dividends?

Is this so you can shit on us in person? Maybe we can also see where the bad service, disrespect and inflated prices originate.

As I have already said, Sherrill Tree is not to be trusted and as such Tree Stuff can no longer be trusted. Better to take my money somewhere where I have not been repeatedly lied to. I do look forward to the rape of TreeStuff by Sherrill so we can see the lies on this issue and be satisfied that Sherrill is nothing but a corporate machine that cares for nothing but money.

It must be so easy to crap on the hard work of others from the safe anonymity of an online avatar with no connection to who you are as a person in the real world.

My name is Nick Bonner, I run the www.treestuff.com brand. I can be reached almost anytime via email, nick@treestuff.com or less reliably at my personal email which I don't really check, bonner1040@gmail.com. Also feel free to text or call 440.989.0444 if you ever need anything or have a legitimate gripe. I do my best to answer or respond right away, but if you don't get me just keep on texting.

Oh how I love NC, just a quick flight to Charlotte for me. Haha! Seriously though I love the area, beautiful when I've been there for work. I enjoyed some very nice cycling and running and awesome people. I recall it's a bit further to drive between Charlotte, Cary and Winston-Salem than I thought (in that order all in one go which a short stop in Cary)!

anyway....

I've been watching this thread thinking about change management. I'd have thought there was a plan for introducing this sale/purchase to the public, and especially the highly passionate, technical and expert group here on the buzz. That obviously hasn't happened and watching this online thread unfold is rather interesting.

Seems time to be getting some information transparency about ST/TS immediate and future plans. Without this, there is so much unknown and without an awareness of this, it's hard for us to understand the sale and what it means to us. Info coming out in dribs and drabs reactively doesn't help much. The online punches only weeks ago adds to the drama.

Time now for the big boys to step up on this. I was wondering when ST would contribute. Nice to see Tripp taking the lead.

ps- SAKAs are available at WS.

We plan to keep on selling on innovative, relevant arborist tools. Additionally we strive to provide world class service that is unmatched within our industry or beyond.

Pretty simple!

I had doubts about whether SherrillTree was serious about improving their customer support, until I actually had a minor issue with a purchase. A set of carbon fiber Gecko climbers. I made one comment on here about 2-day shipping being meaningless if you don't ship it for a week. Bam. Got an apology and my climbers the next day, shipped overnight. I was happy, but they went beyond that. In my conversations, I had mentioned that I was seriously thinking about a second pair with American pole spurs, and that I wanted to try the Euro spurs. They sold me the second set of Gecko CFs for half price, and threw in the extra set of Euro spurs. That's as good or better as anything any other supplier ever did for me. A $350.00 bonus for being late with an order.

I don't think they docked anyone's wages, or stiffed the shareholders. They didn't raise the prices, that I can tell. I think they just took that profit loss and hoped they won a customer back. They did. And now, I don't have to worry about whether I order from ST or TS, and I really do believe that everything will probably work out just fine. I don't think the sky is falling. If I'm not stressed out or rabid with rage over them buying TS then it is just because...

IT'S NOT MY F*CKING COMPANY! It's not my money, not my decision, not my headaches, not my future, not my concern... in fact, it's really none of my business.
I'm sure that no matter what happens with ST/TS, life will go on and nobody will remember acting like an ass about it all. It will quietly fade into the land of internet obscurity and the realm of Who Gives A Rat's Ass and Water Under The Bridge and Get Over It Already.

Nobody at TS has ever done me wrong, and Nick has been a very helpful guy. Can't say that I always agree with him, but that's not a requirement for me to respect the man. He's never struck me as dishonest in the least. If he says, "It will be alright" then that's good enough for me. And, although I'm a terrible cynic about all things corporate, I'm more than happy to wait and see how this all pans out down the road.

If things go to shit in a handbasket and all the horrible predictions of dire and doom come true, I will happily get on here and say that I was wrong. If a year from now, nothing horrible has happened... how many people are going to get on here and say that they were wrong, and apologize to the people whom they, quite frankly, insulted with their visions of corporate greed and ass-hattery turning everyone at ST and TS into lying, cheating assholes?

No knocking this vision. Keep on doing it.

Nick, Kudos. I like your personal approach.

But.... here's the thing. How does this doing bit look with this new hook up?

I don't think it's coming across clearly yet as some of the earlier speculation alluded to...these are natural responses. Don't both want to be world class on service? Don't both want to be selling innovative tools.? Don't both beat prices on same stocked items? Don't both want custom coloured arbrellas? Seems to me you both do.

How will this look? What's the roadmap for customers? For me, in times of uncertainty, it means being proactive on this roadmap stuff. I guess I'm coming from a point of view of what will differentate your brands. The Fiat analogy is a good one, where the brands products are quite different whereas here it's the brand behaviours which are most different.

Anyhow, I try to throw some fun in my comments; I think TS is fun. I think there's a lot more than stickers and good prices that make TS great and my fun comments (like back on the first page... they are fun at least to me) are acknowledgements that TS is doing some good fun stuff. Jambo, tree-o-caches, YouTube vids (even if Luke's coffees are so big they'd fill a swim pool, or is that how big coffees are now in America?), cool new products and fun website hunts are great ways you've engaged with and delighted customers. I can see buzzers want certainty this stuff, and the great prices and service continue.

These are just my thoughts on a rubbish winters day. Cheers, jason

Richard,

As a rule, I will match any price on any item listed as in stock. I don't blame ST for not matching that price in truth, that company lists it as out of stock and doesn't even have it in hand. Forget about the fact that they are violating pricing policies set by Petzl. But, as many of you know, we would take care of that at TS. Just call us!
Thanks Nick.
BTW, Carson wrote and I'll confirm to be at Jambo to volunteer and 2 days prior to help set up and whatever time is needed to take down after. I'll even help with the open ascent or help Michael if he is there. I won'tbe selling SAKAs.

Reply:
I know TS would stand behind the statement and not find reasons not to. Perhaps an asterisk behind their guarantee would be appropriate. I have purchased 3 at this discount and I do enjoy a good discount.
Retailers like everyone else needs to try to make a profit and a living but I'm going to separate things into pro-consumer and anti competition.
I think a lot of people feel that their loyalties and hard-earned cash has gone to support anti competition. I think that's a hard pill to swallow.

...
Choosing sides is the easy part. Sometimes choosing the right side is harder.

Agree Dave. I hope to always be on the right side, the one I can sleep with, that makes me feel I have treated my fellow man with respect, that I put the needs of others above just making a profit or finding ways to maximise money earned. It won't get me rich but I'll leave feeling good. That's the only side. I just have to keep that in mind always.

I have a 9 , 7 and 5 year old who think that mom is the only one who really cares about them and that dad loves work more than them. That's what I'm quitting.

Don't worry, Dave, I'll still be a workaholic for the rest of my life because I was raised by two tree people (who are in their mid 60s and running their company with no signs of slowing down).

Thank you guys. Your comments mean a lot to me and I will share them with Erin.

I somehow managed to make all the soccer, baseball and basketball games over the years and coached too many teams to remember after work and on weekends. Hope the wife doesn't mind you in the kitchen, elbowing her in the ribs for space inadvertently Luke. Good luck and see you down the road. Can't imagine the transfer of a 10 year old equipment mail order company's nest egg could take you too far into the kid's high school years. But you're a great guy and will land on your feet I'm sure.

Sorry to burst your bubble Nick but I'm a client of TreeStuff and my user name here, is my company name there. Ditto for Sherrill Tree.

Not only do you guys have my name, address and phone number, but you also have my credit card number.

That's hardly no connection in the real world my good buddy.

I think you will find that all of the concerns expressed in this thread are from real life clients.

Good morning-

This post is an invitation to every person that has made a comment on this string since day 1, and prior to this one. You are each invited to visit Sherrill Tree in Greensboro to get to know our team and let us show you that we’re not operating in some ivory tower.

Many seem convinced that you know exactly how the future is going to go with TreeStuff & Sherrill...the comments have occasionally been pretty brutal. I’d love the chance to host all of you, as a group, at our place, so the team and I can introduce ourselves, show you around and let you in on our plans.

You are a passionate group and we are too. Let us share the products, brands, services and other projects that we’re working on. I’m interested in sharing it all with you guys…”open kimono”.

Your travel, lodging, dining and food/drink expenses will be 100% covered by the company with no strings attached.

A lot has changed at Sherrill in the last couple of years and it seems that many are judging us on experiences before then. Will you give us a chance to earn your partnership, trust and maybe even a chance friendship? Want to meet Sean, Brandon and see what we're all about? Send me an email and we’ll start coordinating now. I don’t have this fully planned out, but we can figure that out later.

No bullshit. My email address is tripp@sherrilltree.com All are welcome. Who’s in?

Thanks, Tripp

I will see you all in Greensboro!

Dan jumped in November '71. If Gu really did just turn 60, that would make him 15 at the time. Hmm.. seems kinda young.

Happy belated 70th (or whatever age you actually just turned), "Jeff Gu".

Seriously, all that money and you went into tree work???
