TreeStuff and SherrillTree Join Forces

Good morning-

This post is an invitation to every person that has made a comment on this string since day 1, and prior to this one. You are each invited to visit Sherrill Tree in Greensboro to get to know our team and let us show you that we’re not operating in some ivory tower.

Many seem convinced that you know exactly how the future is going to go with TreeStuff & Sherrill...the comments have occasionally been pretty brutal. I’d love the chance to host all of you, as a group, at our place, so the team and I can introduce ourselves, show you around and let you in on our plans.

You are a passionate group and we are too. Let us share the products, brands, services and other projects that we’re working on. I’m interested in sharing it all with you guys…”open kimono”.

Your travel, lodging, dining and food/drink expenses will be 100% covered by the company with no strings attached.

A lot has changed at Sherrill in the last couple of years and it seems that many are judging us on experiences before then. Will you give us a chance to earn your partnership, trust and maybe even a chance friendship? Want to meet Sean, Brandon and see what we're all about? Send me an email and we’ll start coordinating now. I don’t have this fully planned out, but we can figure that out later.

No bullshit. My email address is tripp@sherrilltree.com All are welcome. Who’s in?

Thanks, Tripp

Not possible for me, but thanks....that's a very kind offer.

I recently hired some new people to my company. When you hire new people it cost's you money to get them geared up. I also just purchased a crane and that also amounts to more purchasing to get that geared up. I bought from TS. Who I have bought from for a LONG time. Well I have spent in excess of 3K dollars in the last two weeks. I opened a box and noticed that I did not receive an item. Too busy to call and get to the bottom if it. A week passes and I get another box of gear. An item was back ordered. Then the third package arrives and it's missing another item. This made me mad and I emailed TS because it was 9pm when I finally got around to having time to deal with it.
The very next day I received a call from Josh. He explained that one item was coming in another shipment, one item was mistakenly not added in, and the back ordered item was sent out three weeks ago. The item was a Protos Helment with Sena. He looked into it and found that UPS had lost the shipment. He shipped me another Protos that same day. UPS will pay them for the misplaced helmet. Then, he gave me a 50 dollar gift card for my troubles.
That is customer service. That is why I buy from TS. I guess I don't really care that is owned by Sherrill Tree. I just want good tree gear, shipped to me in a timely manner, by people that care and know what I do for work. Well, those needs of mine are being met. So I am happy!!!

I'm probably burning bridges here but they're ones that are already broken or never existed anyway. I speak on behalf of my small, emerging manufacturing company and as a consumer. Also from the perspective that I favor an open, fair and uninhibited marketplace.
Two specific examples I pose to Sherrill Tree.
1. The price guarantee. ("If you find a lower competitor price anywhere else on the Internet, or in print....")
Don't say it to look good, if you don't mean it.
I can buy the Zigzag at 219.96 at Patroller Supply any day, but ST refuses to honor it.
2. 2 months ago I customized my product with yellow, just to send to ST for evaluation to see if it may be of interest. I was told that you have a "gentleman's agreement" not to carry my product. I'm okay with that, but I'm wondering how many other agreements are in place to try to control the market??
My concern is that a merger is for market control and to limit consumer choice at the cost of the workers, not to "join forces" for OUR benefit.

Thank you for spending the time to respond on this forum. Sean has told us that you are, in so many words, the man. Looks like he wasn't fibbing. I look forward to getting to know you whether I can take you up on your offer or not. Very kind of you!

Richard, I think that particular agreement amongst "gentlemen" requires a willing suspension of disbelief as to any commonly accepted belief of what actually constitutes a "gentleman"
Choosing sides is the easy part. Sometimes choosing the right side is harder.

Richard,

As a rule, I will match any price on any item listed as in stock. I don't blame ST for not matching that price in truth, that company lists it as out of stock and doesn't even have it in hand. Forget about the fact that they are violating pricing policies set by Petzl. But, as many of you know, we would take care of that at TS. Just call us!

Is this so you can shit on us in person? Maybe we can also see where the bad service, disrespect and inflated prices originate.

As I have already said, Sherrill Tree is not to be trusted and as such Tree Stuff can no longer be trusted. Better to take my money somewhere where I have not been repeatedly lied to. I do look forward to the rape of TreeStuff by Sherrill so we can see the lies on this issue and be satisfied that Sherrill is nothing but a corporate machine that cares for nothing but money.

Oh how I love NC, just a quick flight to Charlotte for me. Haha! Seriously though I love the area, beautiful when I've been there for work. I enjoyed some very nice cycling and running and awesome people. I recall it's a bit further to drive between Charlotte, Cary and Winston-Salem than I thought (in that order all in one go which a short stop in Cary)!

anyway....

I've been watching this thread thinking about change management. I'd have thought there was a plan for introducing this sale/purchase to the public, and especially the highly passionate, technical and expert group here on the buzz. That obviously hasn't happened and watching this online thread unfold is rather interesting.

Seems time to be getting some information transparency about ST/TS immediate and future plans. Without this, there is so much unknown and without an awareness of this, it's hard for us to understand the sale and what it means to us. Info coming out in dribs and drabs reactively doesn't help much. The online punches only weeks ago adds to the drama.

Time now for the big boys to step up on this. I was wondering when ST would contribute. Nice to see Tripp taking the lead.

ps- SAKAs are available at WS.

I hope no people are getting feelings hurt. If so, there's a sale on thick skin in another thread - free same day shipping on orders over $100 for those on mainland Bermuda. TS Green/orange colours are popular (comes with free buff and stickers), same with ST yellow (comes with complementary green biner)
