Fagus Sylvatica "Red Obelisk". It's columnar and my neighbor has two of them that are just super happy and hearty. Every year he talks about how they're getting too big and he needs to "do something" and I talk him out of it. You're up @Serf Life

Nice, I love a nice beech. 99% of American beech has beech bark disease here and now the leaf disease is around too. So rare to find healthy native ones but copper beech are happy. I’ll post up tomorrow

…hopefully it can avoid BLD….

These pest issues are getting out of hand. BLD is now here in coastal areas. We just recently got hammered with Winter Moth/Gypsy moth issues that crushed countless Oaks. I’m seeing heavy nematode pressure in the same areas this year.

Nailed it! Of course it could be a Hican but I'm not good enough to tell. Pretty out of range here and it stuck out like a sore thumb to my eye. I drive past this tree taking my son to school and as soon as it leafed out it looked unfamiliar to me.
