That part of Ohio is a hotspot for invasive Callery Pears so I don't think they fit with underutilized. Drive down I-75 in spring and there's white flowers lining the highway. Kinda shocking

South Carolina has a bounty on them. I think it is kill 3 get a native tree to replace them.
