I was doing a big inventory recently and had a bit of trouble with this one. Usually I was moving pretty quick with i.d. but this one slowed me down...

Disqualified! This photo is a closeup not "at a distance"! .... But mostly you're disqualified because I have no clue what that is.

Is it Acer platanoides? Straight up guessing now as all of my guesses have been used up by others.

Genus only was actually a clue, although not a great one.
It is virtually impossible to ID species in the winter and not much easier when in leaf.
