Trees from a distance

It was planted in the mid 70's I think. He's the former City Forester of Providence, still involved in statewide tree issues. The second I mentioned that I thought I had found S. giganteum in Roger Williams Park, he knew exactly where the trees were (there are 2) and the species. !

Okay, for the third try now to post this:

To change things up a bit, here is a bonsai.

This should be a very easy one.

common tree.

miniture scale version of an old tree of this specie.

I will post another after this one if you like the change up using a bonsai.

then i can post a tropical tree from africa if you wish, not a bonsai.

hmmmm, looking at that picture again, I guess don't go by the shape too much, it was made that way to look like a huge old tree. the residential versions don't really look like that, maybe if they ever got to 80 yrs old they would, but I've never seen one older than 30 years old in a landscape.

look more at the bark texture and the tiny branch tips.

correct, a common name- strawberry tree.

edible, but about tasteless.

sorry, it took, me so long to respond, long day, i tried to type from my phone, but I wasn't able to sign on to treebuzz from it.
 
The big tree in the back. You can take a shot at the one in the front too.
