6 months ago I would have said you were correct. This tree has been misidentified for 30 years at least! I never thought it looked much like U. rubra but was always told so. Turns out I was right! I guess I should have done my homework sooner.

So actually, NOT Ulmus rubra...

Not americana or glabra.

glabra is really close though. In fact my original guess on this tree was glabra x (the answer), which is a named hybrid with several cultivars.
