TREE Fun(d) Redwood Climb

Re: TREE Fun(d) Redwood Climb & the CMI TROLLEY

I believe this is Gearge Rollins, but I'm not sure. He spent more time upside down then he did upright on the traverse and exit line.

Re: TREE Fun(d) Redwood Climb & the CMI TROLLEY

Wednesday was a free for all . This pic is of Mike Teti and Joey Cornell Ascending the Reynolds tree. To the right, Aj Remy and Mark Moeske ascended another part of this tree earlier in the morning. I belive this made it worth thier while to come out to Cali.

Re: TREE Fun(d) Redwood Climb & the CMI TROLLEY

Nice shots, Greg. And a great big thanks to you for taking the time to get these trees in shape to climb. Several of the guides arrived early to knock out some big deadwood. Perhaps you could describe the pruning operation.

A couple clarifications: 1). The climber on the traverse in your message, "Here's some pics that I got when I could." is Pierre Tardif.

2). The upside down climber is actually Jerry Hamilton, from Ohio, not George.

3). The "Group" is (L-R) Seated: Ox; Joey Cornell, United States Climbing Team; Mark Moeske, Allmark Tree, NY. Standing: AJ Remy, Bill Miller & Assoc, Long Island, NY; Shelley Retchless, Huckleberry Gardens, Seattle; Jim Martin, Virginia; Jamie Goddard, Yale Cordage; James Piercy, Lake Tahoe; Mike Teti, United States Climbing Team; G. F. Beranek, Beranek Publications, Ft Bragg, CA; Buddy Paddy, U.S. Capitol Tree Service; Scott Chapple, Climbing Arborist, Seattle; Pierre Tardif, San Jose, CA; Frans Smith, Frans Smith Tree Service, Healdsburg, CA; Jerry Hamilton, Tree Masters, Ohio. Absent: George Rollins, U.S. Capitol Tree Service.

Greg, I think it's Jerry Hamilton.

Here's an old shot of the Reynolds Triple. There's a larger view of this pic of the Reynolds Tree over at: treedr.net

This was a climb done in January of 2002. By the time Jerry Beranek & I did the deadwooding from the ground, there wasn't time to do more than get a line set. Both of us weren't able to get up in the tree.

The previous week, Jerry had taken Tom Dunlap to the Reynolds Tree, and there is a short clip of Tom emerging from between the two stems shown in the first moments of the Bogachiel Spruce video.

The Reynolds Tree is actually two trees, about 6 feet apart. The larger is 15' dbh, and splits into two more stems about 15 feet above the ground. This tree has some amazing candleabra forks. Up in the 7 tops, there is room for many climbers.

In this picture, Greg and I are taking a picture of each other
while I'm on the traverse.

Needless to say, it was one big party. Thank you Michael for putting
it all together and thank you to all those involved, Greg, Frans, Jerry,
Eric, Jack, Scott, Tim, Joey, Mike, Jim, James, Jamie, Mike, Shelley
(hope I didn't miss anyone).

Btw, Ox, my last name is Tardif.

When I saw this topic pop up, the "4" in the date caught my attention and I was reading it 2014 rather than 2004, and was in email mode about details of the OP / opening post.

Then realized this topic is ancient.

There's a difference when rebooting a topic that has event dates in the OP, compared to topics with general content.

Glad I double-checked the OP posting date and event date.
