Tree Climber Cuts His Hand With Chainsaw - "Viewer discretion advised"

Got balls big enough to need a wheel barrow for posting a video like that around here though all of us safety sherriffs and cowboys going at this guys entire skill set. I have to say his videography and editing skills are superior.
Thats the dude's MO.. Post a video then disappear...

Oh, Honey. So sorry, I’m not talking about your vee notch, just Kenny’s saw flailing, spastic nonsense. I have no judgement on them as long as you know what your doing.
The video clearly shows a list of things which should be done differently all leading up to the inevitable accident. Hope dude gets the training he needs, changes professions, or figures out his limitations before he winds up jacking all our insurance rates up.
Gosh sugar-tits , do all you guys have insurance? I’m gonna have to look into that.

Been notching spars for decades when needed. As Evo said, a small v notch on each side. Not to be trusted with your life, so always keep flipline around spar on descent. Simple shit really.
I never got that memo about not trusting the notch with your life. Apparently it’s pretty dangerous so I’ve just been playing Russian roulette for 15 years.

I have cut and repelled off of hundreds and hundreds of V-notches in my life. Im sure you are all well aware that I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, but I somehow manage to not kill myself in the process. This is fucking tree work gents, were not splitting the atom here!.
I’ve done this many times as well. I think it’s unsafe when people weight it too soon. Gotta lower a couple feet before committing.

( I know by exposing this video i will be open to smart ass comments and know it alls, but wanted to show a simple accident could happen even with two hands on the saw and double tie in points.)

For those who don't know what i was doing: I have both srt rope runner and friction saver but left both in my other truck and i was not going to spike down 80ft off this spar. So I did an old school logger notch at the top to descend drt with zig zag.

And yes had two tie-in points, i knew i wasn't going to fall, it was all a natural human reaction to grab on to the tree.

Hey Kenny thanks for posting this video. Some guys can be real harsh and it takes an honest guy to admit he’s made mistakes. I’m curious what happened after you cut your fingers? Did you have bandages sent up? Did you self rescue? How bad where the cuts?
Thanks

.

Is it not common to wear gloves when doing this type of work?
....
I've gone back and forth. Enough nicks on my fingers that I now wear gloves all the time. They won't help in a bad chainsaw accident, but they help with little things here and there. Certainly days I'd prefer to be bare-handed, but I have decided gloves are best.

Take the splice end of your line, running bowline choked to the spar. Biner in splice. Take the tail from below your zz, hitch, etc and clip a bight into the biner, descend. the friction from the 2:1 disadvantage lets you descend easily and it lets you have a retrieval leg to pull when you get to the ground or your next station. Give it a try.

This works for hitch climbers and other DdRT systems for those curious.

Makes a retrievable, conch anchored system with a 2:1 exit rappel if something happens. Only catch is you need 3 times the rope distance of your TIP height.
