Tree Austria 3.2 or maybe Weaver Denali?

Can anyone explain to me the difference between the TreeMotion Evo and the regular 2018 version? @rico?

From what I can tell it looks like the EVO has a double rope on the bridge and maybe the lower D's are slightly different... Other than that I cant really tell.

I'm not adverse to the extra weight of the standard 2018 saddle. If it has more comfort than the light then that's what I want. The other big factor is the standard 2018 saddle has a life rated ring on the back and I feel like there are time that would be handy to tie into. I'm going to go make a deposit into my account and make a purchase before they either run out of stock or the deal ends...
Evo has double bridges, and the bridges come in different lengths and with either sewn eyes or stopper Knotts.

What do you intend to do with the back ring?

I agree with Rico - go with the S. Light.

@rico , do you use the optional back pad on your S. Light?

@rico , do you use the optional back pad on your S.I think

I found this video that helped explain the changes to the EVO.

I'm in the NE so I work a lot of trees with large canopies and there are times that I have my life line behind me over head and that requires me to either run it over my shoulder or under my armpit. I was thinking I would just anchor it onto that back ring.

Nope. I use the stock back-pad on the S.light...I tried the optional pad and liked the thinner stock pad much better. Ergonomics, not padding is the most import factor in creating a comfy saddle...I had the opportunity to take the new Petzl Sequoia for a ride this week and fucking hated it...A light, well made saddle with a gawd awful back-pad shape and design.... It refused to stay down on my hips and just keep riding up, pulling the legs pads into my junk...Fucking miserable few hours. I let the fella who owns the Sequoia ride my rope saddle for a fews hours and he promptly commissioned me to built him a Valiant...

I’m sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with the Sequoia! I use the older version myself and find it to be quite comfortable, it’s never ridden up on me. I suppose it must just be different body types/shapes. I especially like the back pad, actually, but maybe I’m just odd.

I think saddle choice is the single most personal choice we make in our gear selection...Our body types, climbing styles, and our wants and needs are all different...Thankfully we live in a time when our saddle options are almost limitless. So much so that picking a new saddle can sometimes be a daunting task....

Yes, that’s for sure! I tried out half a dozen at least when I bought that one and it still took me a week to choose it. And that’s even with my brand preference for Petzl gear. It is amazing all the options out there, surely something for everyone.

Still got an old MCRS I’ve been meaning to put together. Slowly learning to splice double braid, I’d like to have a pair of lower Ds made from rigging plates spliced in place.

We all tend to get caught up in the latest and greatest stuff, but there is a reason the TreeMo has been the saddle to beat for over a decade...Great choice Marshy.....

Thanks, hard to know what you want when all youve had is bare minimum. This should suit me for a long time as my skills grow .

Many, if not most of the very best climbers in the world choose to climb in a TreeMo, and its more than we mere mortals could ever ask for...Enjoy the new harness...

I remember my sequoia doing the same. Not only would it ride up, but it'd also fall down from the weight of a 193t. I've retired it to the harness that nieces and nephews play in so they don't change the adjustments on my MB. The sequoia just wasn't a good fit for me.

Hearing these kinds of reviews is reassuring because the visual of the sequoia makes me want to like it and I would have probably went with it over the S light had I not dug deep enough.

A friend of mine that is also new to climbing was asking me what belts I was looking at. Just yesterday I started sharing links with the sales but, he told me he bought a lightly used sequoia for $150. Made me a little sour thinking he got a killer deal. Hearing these reviews makes me think maybe I got the better deal lol. I don't like the idea of buying used equipment anyways.

Yea this is pretty enlightening. I thought the Sequoia was a good one based on the reviews I’ve read. The Ds look nice. Not that I’ll be buying another saddle anytime soon, but I tend to pounce on good deals whether I need it or not. Stupid habit.

I don't mean to turn people away from the sequoia as there are many who enjoy it, so for some its the best option, it just wasn't for me.

The sequoia was my first saddle and its very possible that I did not get the adjustments set just right. With my monkeybeaver the first thing I did was hung it from the rafters in my garage and got it adjusted just right. I can sit in it for 30 minutes suspended with no problem. I then loaned it out with permission to change the adjustments, then got them close to right after it was returned and its a huge difference what that little bit of adjustment makes to the ride and comfort.

Maybe with the proper setup the sequoia would have been great for me too, I just couldn't get real comfortable in it between the riding up, sagging down, (seems odd that it had both problems :endesacuerdo: ) and the cutting into my legs when in suspension.

All of this reminds me that I need to get my MB back in the garage tomorrow to fine tune those adjustments.
