Quoted from another member named Royce: Full time, year round? Is this a full time employee or a contract climber position? Health insurance? Sick time, vacation time, holiday pay? Gear incentive? Do you cover dues and membership to professional organizations? Do you cover expenses for continuing education classes and seminars like New England Grows, TCIA EXPO and the likes?
Promote yourself and tell a potential employee why he would want to work for YOU!
Answer: The only thing that I expect a climber or apprentice-climber to own is their own saddle and 2 carabiners.. I'll provide basic gear beyond that and it will remain property of Trapper's Tree Service. I do this because an individual's respect and appreciation for gear (as well as being protective over & encourage proper care of all gear), begins with their own equipment.
I start all climbers out with basic pay ($15+/-)... because we all know "never call'em a climber until you see them climb." I Do, Have & Will pay a RETROACTIVE bonus/equity adjustment to the first hour worked (90 days).. if ppl have an sr22 and cant back a trailer.. that matters... if they dont want to be a team player and help on the ground.. that matters... if they show up on time, can pass a drug screen for state/prevailing wage contracts, model respect for equipment (including checking trucks over etc) and not bring a bad attitude or talk down to people who know less than them.. I will give them the WORLD. I keep certs current.. pay for training.. give a stipend towards health insurance.. 5 paid holidays per year for year around employees. I've climbed for 16 years and am in the daily flight as much as anyone.. from grapple truck to 144' crane... I own them... bucket trucks and dump trailer.. snow plow trucks for winter work provided.. all to the right people. Were not all related but were like a family.. we have our bad days but were always there for each other.. we extent grace towards one another in the hopes that others do the same in return. So.. if any real climber wants to help us grow.. come one down.. were currently booked nearly 12 weeks out and would love the help.
Ps- we run crews from a self storage facility, we have a full time staffed office and 1 full time salesman.. plus me (which I do it all).. but clearly dont have the time to do it myself. Mad respect and love to all... call or text.. or send an email.. sales@trapperstreeservice.com
