Tough Elm

Tod_k you are a Professional Tree Funeral Artist.
Good Job, great photo's, Done enough 3 dayers never a 4er Sore shins? ouch! I like "we were tired of this tree" and then I seen that Damm ball cart your crew would have loved a 36" mini.

"Anyway, very nice job Todd. I know exactly what its like. I love those challenges - no one can come in and trash your price with big equipment, the only way to do it is with time, ropes, MA, biceps and brains. Most people can't be bothered or don't have the skills."

Ditto the Laz Man

Nice job Buddy!

You should've called me, that looked like a fun job.

that's alot of time for one tree . I'd like to to take my shot at it. No disrespect, whats done is done . I've done alot of elm removals in my day. 4 days , is alot of time . Seriously, no disrespect intended. TK , did you over rig? 4 days, I'd beat that bid.

Right on todd! That was some serious rigging not to mention the wind! Forget about the 4 days.... nobody got hurt, nothing broke, AND the bid was right. (K.T.S. should check into a mini loader w/ bmg grapple. mine is only 34" wide. i kick myself for not buying one sooner)

Four days does seem like a long time I agree. There was some other factors. The site was 1.25 hours away and no sun light till after 7:00. We did not even get to the site untill after 8:30. We had to leave the site by 4:00 ish because our trucks were in the alley blocking about 7 garages and the home owners would be bugging us to get in and out of the garages. Another factor was the form of the tree. It was only around 65-70' tall and all of the service wires and the homes were almost half as tall. For alot of the brush we had to tip tie, butt tie and drift line for cuts only 4" in diameter. Like most elms a 4" limb may be 30' long. Most of time was getting the brush off. I rigged almost all of the wood on the third day. Riggs, will you be at TCIA? if so lets hook up so I can give you a midwest beat down and then you can buy me some beers..

Just foolin, I know you have done and are still doing lots of super challenging tree work and I respect your opinions.

Tk , me and my buddies were just checking out the site last nite. We were just messin with ya. I know you guys smack trees, and if you take 4 days , than thats what it is. I tried to write that with a straight face. I know all about them Elms . I have one on Tuesday , But , I'm using a 75ft. bucket and a 36t crane. Keep hitting them.

Tod you priced the job for 4 days. You got the job. You did a professional job in 4 days. I presume the client was happy, particularly the way you looked so professional in exercising care and consideration. You'll probably get referred.

Its academic whether someone who hasn't even been to the site thinks they can do it quicker. You don't need to justify anything. I'd stick with what is obviously working for you and your crew.
