Wednesday May 8. Not sure if anyone saw the national news about this. EF3 tornado less a mile away from me. I watched the wall cloud with the large tornado dip from my front porch. I didn’t think to get video. 1 killed and several injured. I was out volunteering Sunday. It’s devastating and heartbreaking for all those families. I realize how lucky we were. I’m dumbfounded with all the damage. When I checked in I advised that I had arborist training. The homeowners sign a release to protect volunteers. The coordinator asked me to remove some widow-makers and barber chair trees. At the end of the day I got another call for an uproot leaning tree towards a home at another location. I climbed and removed 3-4 widow-makers and cut 2 BC with tops pinned to the ground. Brush donkey too. I was too busy helping to get photos but, I’m sure most of you have seen news stories or in person the devastation. So sad. Added-news just said 9 total from May 6-8. Apparently EF-3 was the worst.

One hit about 50 miles south of us a couple of months ago. We were driving between appointments not realizing we were going through the path of the tornado less than 2 weeks after it hit.

I was driving (4 lane, divided highway 70mph). I was noticing the utility poles on one side of the road on the ground, looking at the all the trees at one house destroyed, but house looked OK, then my helper just blurted out 'holey s#%t!' If you are in farm country, you've probably see the blue Harvestore silos...he snapped this pic as we drove by.

I lived at Lockborne (Rickenbacker AFB) in 1974 when Xenia super outbreak destroyed Ohio. I watched from the AFB fence as several tornados went across the fields. It is still stuck in my memory as a 14 year old. This April 8th one too.

Glad you were out of the way of it. We were at a friends house in Lebanon, TN getting ready to see Neil Young at the FirstBank Ampitheater when it came through. He lives on the south side of the Cedars of Lebanon SP. We thought it was going to come at us, but it stayed south. He had a couple of drivers get caught out in it and luckily they made it to their terminals in Murfreesboro just before it came through. Man what a crazy night. We stayed up until the wee hours watching the weather on TV. They moved the concert to the next night. Amazing that the Ampitheater had almost zero damage to the property, considering how close it was.

We are just south of you guys in Huntsville, AL. We had several tornadoes through part of the city. Two of them came a couple of miles from my house. It's a huge mess. We have been working from 7:30 am to dark everyday until today. We had to stop to fix a leak on our crane. Well be back at it tomorrow. We have at least 4 more to take off houses. Took a 52 in dbh willow oak off a house the other day. Found the chart limit on my 55 ton crane trying to lift it off the house. We also ended up getting to test out the lights on our crane. We were picking until 9:15 sunday night trying to beat the rain.
