Tonight's Lunar Eclipse

Tonight\'s Lunar Eclipse

Any one staying up to see it? I personally think it's cool, but I didn't plan on staying up all night, or wake up to see it. Since, my two older boys are interested, I figured, we'll get up to check it out.

They better remember this...

Anyone else gonna check it out?

Re: Tonight\'s Lunar Eclipse

5:00 comes twice a day for me, so no, I wasn't going to get up any earlier to see a blue moon.

Re: Tonight\'s Lunar Eclipse

Yep. Reddish/copper color is a good description for us too.

We got up, when out side in our underwear, looked up, then went back to bed.

Re: Tonight\'s Lunar Eclipse-Blue Moon

Tom , I thought the Blue Moon was the second full moon in a calender month also, but recently learned that is not true. A Blue Moon is actually the fourth full moon in a calender quarter. This was on Yahoo news several weeks ago. Goes to show, you learn something new every day.

OK, OK...you believe some Yahoo...

A Yahoo is a legendary being in the novel Gulliver's Travels (1726) by Jonathan Swift.

Swift describes the Yahoos as vile and savage creatures, filthy and with unpleasant habits, resembling human beings far too closely for the liking of protagonist Lemuel Gulliver, who finds the calm and rational society of intelligent horses, the Houyhnhnms, far preferable. The Yahoos are primitive creatures obsessed with "pretty stones" they find by digging in mud, thus representing the distasteful materialism and ignorant elitism Swift encountered in Britain. Hence the term "yahoo" has come to mean "a crude, brutish or obscenely coarse person".

I'll believe Nanci Griffith:

Re: Tonight\'s Lunar Eclipse-Blue Moon

OK Tom, Wikipedia then. and I was slightly wrong, it is the third full moon in a season that has four full moons. The moon on Tuesday was full but the solstice didn't happen until after the moon was full, so the autumn season had 4 full moons. Thus the November full moon was the Blue Moon. My slight mistake

Re: Tonight\'s Lunar Eclipse-Blue Moon

I realize that To, cause I'm much bigger that you and can crush you like an ant, But I too was under theimpression that a blue moon was two full in one month. Not true. Tha ale part has come along lately here and i do appreciate that one too.
