I was banned at Butchs site because I opposed his interjecting comments into other peoples post. I won't be back to the Ganja shack.

The last thing I posted at AS was I quoted Dayman as saying:[ QUOTE ]
Here is the message that has just been posted:

NET,

Are you just playing dumb? or just plain dumb?{quote]

My response:
Are you new here or is this a rhetorical question?

It's no big deal to me. I could use a break from AS. As for Butchs' Treehouse.........I can't think of anything nice to say.

Re: TreeCo joins the ranks

This is getting really silly. There is plenty of barbed chatter going on. But, it seems like NET can dish it out but not take it in. Over the course of time, there have been people who have been very acidic when new people ask simple questions. When anyone has asked for a bit of restraint, they're told to "get a thick skin" we're tough guys. The norms were set a long time ago. Without gentle control chaos develops. It's hard to control a team of wild horses once they run amok.

Everyone is welcome here at Treebuzz. Since the beginning the behaviour has always been restrained. I can think of only one case where I read a post and deleted it without a first asking the poster to consider editing. There have been maybe 4 or 5 others that were getting a little edgy. After a personal note from Mark or me the poster has come back around. There have been many more examples of the forum acting as it's own moderator. We haven't had to say a thing.

Moderating is like treework, low intesity care over a long time.

Re: TreeCo joins the ranks

Keep up the solid discussion, including the feelings and the passion. Take a look at the posting I put up in general discussion, and you will feel the pain.

We are getting farther behind with rules people like Darin. I don't even know who he is, or that he ran AS or blah, blah, blah. I do know we have so much work ahead of us as an industry changing past practices and laws to allow us to help everyone.

The Gopher hockey team plays Colorado College on the 18th. Go Gophers. You know why I bring this up? Do you remember a guy by the name of Herb Brooks? Past Gopher hockey coach that brought us an Olypic Title in 1980; remember? Well, did he think outside the box? Pardon my french, but you're damn right he did! We need to keep our freedoms alive, and one of them, so exemplified by the 1980 U.S. Hockey T-E-A-M is the Freedom of Speech. I couldn't think of a better example of a person who championed this idea better than Herb Brooks.

Now that I am on the subject of Olympics, why isn't the international climbing championships an Olypic event? I think you guys (I'm not that good) are far more exiting to watch and prepare just as much as the athlete throwing the shot put. Many years ago I trained under Hart Johnson (raquetball). He (and others I'm sure) got raquetball in as an Olympic sport. Well?

Herb Brook\'s last lesson for us

DAve,

Speaking of Herb Brooks, he gave us so much and touched so many lives. He left a tragic lesson for us to ponder. He died in a car crash. They think that he fell asleep at the wheel and was thrown from his van. No one can be sure if he would have survived the crash but he would have had a chance. He had spent about three days in northern MN at fundraising events for hockey. What a tragic way to loose a great person.
