Today....

In your V climb, did you find the right climb line pulling awkward? Seems like a Rook would take the prize here.
Just curious. I don't have one.
I've never noticed any issue running in this configuration. I think it kinda balances itself out, since I'm constantly adjusting the two lines for positioning as I move down the tree. Also for the most part I wasn't fully suspended; I was standing on the uprooted tree most of the time, felt more like a triangulated limb walk facing my two TIPs.

ArboSpace Aspen11.7? If so please report your findings. I tried to order some this week but no one at ArboSpace would pick up the phone.
Yeah, that's the Aspen Static. I got it awhile back when they had a wicked deal. They say it compares to Xstatic (which I've never tried). But I've actually found it to be pretty bouncy. I had it on a base tie today with almost the entire 150' length in the system, which certainly exacerbates the stretch, but I felt like I was climbing a freakin bungee cord on the ascent. Also, I've run it with RRP a few times and it's practically pancake flat; never could dial in the friction setting how I'd like it (but I'm new to the RRP in general, so could just be me). On the positive side, I've only been able to milk about 6" of cover off a 150' length. And it has a good feel, nice balance of knotability and stiffness. The cover seems like it'll hold up well over time with toothed ascenders, but I've probably only used it about a dozen times at this point. Still, that bounce might be a deal breaker for me in the long run...

Looks like a cozy work position. If you’re looking for gear to buy, just because it’s cool and you really need it, try out a bdb from @surveyor . It does really well with spruce and pine pitch.
A pair of Gordon’s BDB with the Nano swivels anchored to a bridge swivel is the cat’s meow. @SoftBankHawks dubbed it the helicopter belay. ;)

I may have already suggested this to you but hearing you’re stuck…a friend of mine just bought a surplus LMTV and put my old chip body onto it. That thing can’t get stuck period.

Ha, that would be a cool truck but way bigger than what I would ever want, too tall and wouldn't fit down the driveways in my area! My primary chip truck is 4x4 which I certainly take advantage of often, but it lives on the other island. In this case it was just a matter of driving into part of a field that was too wet just under the surface. In the open-diff 2wd chip truck I got one side of the rears into a soft spot and just started spinning that tire, unable to get traction especially with the chipper sinking in as well and basically acting as an anchor. Then I watched as the service truck pulled up and sunk into the mud as well, and 4x4 didn't get it out, had to use Maxtrax under the tires to get moving again, then used it to pull the chip truck/chipper out with a strap.

I even walked the area before driving in and it felt solid enough, but eh, happens.

How do you like the Tango StatX?

I don't have a ton of time on it, but it's pretty good. Honestly I need to experiment with it a lot more, which is actually why I've been using it all week. It is pretty similar to Xstatic which is what I'm mostly using right now, but is a little softer with better knotability. The specs say it has less elongation than Xstatic, but it doesn't feel that way to me. I had about a 85' canopy tie the other day and it had more bounce than I expected, and the RRP flattens it a fair bit which was causing very slight creep for the friction setting I was using. I don't think you'd have that issue with a hitch based system though, and I haven't tried it on my ZZ/Chicane setup but I should try and give that a go this coming week depending on the jobs I schedule. Considering its like $100 less than Xstatic for a 200' overall I'm not complaining.

Thanks. It sounds like they did me a favor not picking up the phone.

My house this morning after 89 mph winds and rain last night. My favorite pecan tree fell on our house and van. Four large pine trees sheered in half and our power is still out.

Glad I wasn’t in the hammock for that one.. minimlal damage to your house I hope .. sadness of a tree man losing one of his favorite trees though… Welll I’ll just say we are all here for you you ol buddy.

You would have been just fine Aaron, (maybe a little terrified) but the hammock trees made it unscathed. ;)

We have much to be thankful for. My wife literally stepped inside the doorway, turned around because she was thinking about moving some potted plants. I yelled at her to stay inside, she struggled to close the door against the wind and then the tree fell right where she had been a moment earlier. We still don’t know the extent of all the damage, but we are thankful that the Lord spared our lives.

I had a small brush pile that literally disappeared.
