Lots of set-backs, time away from training for various important life and work responsibilities, ups and downs, not to mention the physical challenge presented by grappling at this level at age 47, mostly against guys in their mid-20s. Some of you may know something about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and what this means, but I'm sure that lots of you guys understand what it is like to exist in a physically demanding world in "middle age", and the effort, focus and toughness it requires.

Spent two hours rigging three climb lines in three different trees in order to retrieve a Forest Circus drone from a spruce tree that was uprooted and hung up on some punky and very sketchy aspens. None of which I wanted to climb off of. But with 600 feet of rope and three Zigzags going at once, I managed to reach the little bugger safely and bring it back home to daddy.
I didn't ask what the hell they were doing that they got it stuck up there. It's the Forest Circus.
Haven't decided if I am going to send them a bill. If I do, I won't see any payment for at least a year. Been through that several times already. Their red tape to get paid is a mile long. I will probably just write it off as a good will gesture.

It wasn’t too bad. This tree was pretty unstable but I got a nice high TIP in a solid nearby tree, and I was also able to get a guy line in it. Worst part was the fact that the top 3rd of the tree was over the lines…

We had a similar job about 6-7 weeks ago.. 4 big reds being engulfed by a very large, active, tall, and steep slide. The trees had started moving and we’re threatening 3 homes. There was nothing big enough, or close enough to tie into so we had to suck it up and go old school. Adding insult to injury it was also windy as hell (30+ mph winds) for the 2 days we were there. Fucking trees we’re swaying 20-25 ft up top in the gusts and the roots balls we’re moving and moaning and groaning. Needless to say to I was fairly puckered up for the entire job (2 days), and could never really get comfortable. It was the kind of job where your nervous system is firing on all cylinders the entire time, and when your done you are at another level of exhaustion.
