Today....

I cut this silver maple apart today in an apartment complex. I dropped a pretty good sized piece of a lead and a very large opossum came out of it after it hit the ground. It was not happy.

Thats a 395 with a 32 in bar in the pic.

That’s a nice medium sized Silver for this area. Those things get big around here!

Never had a possom pop out of a log, but we had a raccoon family appear one time. Mama was hiding up high apparently, we pulled the kids out and dropped the log and she wobbled off with a few dirty looks.

The is a 'regular' sized silver for this area as well. They generally dont get over 6 ft dbh here.

A friend of mine cut through a raccoon nest on accident several years ago. They knew something was wrong from the blood coming out of the saw kerf. Got two raccoons at the same time.

Had a baby flying squirrel jump out of a tree I was cutting one time, eyes were still closed but he spread out and floated down nice a gentle, my groundie scooped him up and put him in a rope bag, squirrel mom came and got him right after we were done. I did get a either a rat or squirrel nest one time those ones weren't as lucky.

I have a years-long fantasy of buying a 4x4 bucket like this one, only $70k.... even though I have essentially no use for one.....

And traffic jams will no longer be an issue! There’s a company in my area that bought one and put normal sized wheels and tires on it. It’s a bit ‘Thunder Road’ looking now. Just know to be thorough when looking into one of those. They are often worked to an inch of their life before being retired for sale, and you may be hard pressed to find a company with enough knowledge or care to ensure everything is up to snuff. I have heard too many horror stories about these 4x4 models (or any other model, really) with unresolved issues required too much heartache and headache to fix. I’m sure you know this already.

So after taking two full weeks off to rest my back, today I went to tackle a large group of small-ish dead and dying cedars with my new chipper, still only have like 4 hours on the machine.

It couldn't chip to save it's life. Sure the material was dead, light and dusty, but in 5 years I've only clogged my BC1000 ONE time, having chipped dead cedar countless times, and this thing clogged 3 times in 40 minutes, every single time I put a log in it. I literally had to give up and walk away from the job. I'm kind of pissed honestly and not sure what to do.

The stuff just didn't have the velocity to even get out of the chute, even though there was no obstructions. It just built up at the pivot, and then filled it's way down the neck of the chute, finding its way out every single other opening in the machine. If I can't even chip material like this, my brand new $65k machine is just about useless to me.
