Poor fella was doing the work for free. Once I had to go clean up after a guy that did some free "work" for a church. It cost them more for us to clean it up than it would have to do the job i.e. logs on jumbled brush...looked like a disaster area... and lets not forget the spike marks and horrible cuts. DO you think the "damp" ground he wasn't worried about was a factor? Sometimes you get exactly what you pay for.
 
I really doubt he was actually doing it for free. Too bad for the crane company though. That's the third one in a month that I know of.
