Time Tracking for jobs and emps

Hey All,

Just wondering what methods and forms are being used to track time on jobs and employees time sheets.

I have a deep background in bean counting so I have a bias for documenting as much info as possible but I'm not sure I need/want even half of the stuff I think I want to track.

Any suggestions, ideas or samples?

ThanX!

What about travel time? Fuel costs these days are horrible. Also, I believe you put unecessary pressure on whoever is doing the work if it is bid by "time" only. You may compromise your company's rep if you put pressure on your employee to finish within a certain time limit. He(or she)might just take a shortcut or two to finish within your limit.
On the other hand, if "production" is your main concern, then setting limits on time is a good idea. The only issue I have is the old cliche "easier said than done"

We give our employees small pads of paper with the information that we need them to collect for each job. When they get back to the shop they record how many minutes they spent for travel, tree work, clean up, and stump grinding on each job location that they did that day.

WE have a sheet at work I'll try and get you one, works wonders and even the simplest of people can work it, Its basically our work order, with a log on the back of diffrent types of tree work every truck and chipper we log our hours in the appropreaite description, then log our fuel next to the truck number with the miles, and of course the hours and fuel the chippers were used. And if you dont turn it in you dont get paid so we all do it.

Ok If I can get it here it is. You can barely see it but there are catagories(the first gray line) That state each kinda of work a person does and for how long including travel and yard time.

The bottom Is a list of equipment all kinda bucket trucks, chippers, log loader, dumps anything you have in the yard.
And tyhe fields after words are the hours of use, how far they traveled,.

This here is our time sheet. If everything isn't filled out properly we dont get paid.
