Thursdays Job.

Thursdays job was a referral from Jerry B. Interesting history behind this. Jerry was falling trees in the Sierras ( My area) in the late eighties. Work went sour so he headed back home To th coast. 15 years later the guy he was falling with calls him up asking if he would climb some trees for him. This would be almost a seven hour drive for Jer.A hour and a half for me if the roads are clear. So he referred me for the job.

Now the construction co. slash tree co.has no climber and cant find anyone to climb either? hmmmm.Well to make a long story short, I guess they had done some trial and error on some climbers and on one tree went through five guys.So I guess they decided to go outside the area. This is the beautiful and prestigous area of Lake Almanor. Million dollor homes around the lake which is surounded by White fir ,Cedar, pondarosa and other conifir.

The trees I did were on the tip of the penisula with three feet of snow on the ground and partial snow load in the canopies. I know I know, snow is nothing to you guys back East , but we dont work much in it around here. At least the west side of Cali doesn't.

Anyway , here are some pics. These are forty inch White Fir and one hundred and ten feet tall between a couple of house.

Thanks
Greg

Greg,

That arial pic is one of the best pics I've seen on this site! /forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

That would be a great pic for a website showing tight removals.

Pretty area.

Too bad you had to make it so ugly by killing those wonderful living things. I'm supprized the snow isn't red with blood from the murder you committed. /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

......alright, I better go to bed.

later,

Kevin , the secound tree still stands stripped out and topped with a lean to the right. It wont be fell until the spring when they get the other tree out of the way and the stump down lower so not to bust it up.

Yeah! yeah! I know Dave...Booo hooo...lol... The tree I took the pic from would have died anyway. it was hit hard by beatles . The lower end of the trunk was flaking bark and very spongy. The tree on the ground was a very nice one though , but the home owners were parnoid that that the trees may tip from heavy snow load and high wind, like in the previous years when some trees went right through the middle of thier house.

Stickman , I use a 5 meg Sony f707 with a Caral Ziess lense.Although now I hear Sony is making a 8meg with a variable lense 28mm to 200mm. Nice dig. My bud jerry just bought one and I'm really curious to see what kind of photo it takes.
