Throwline + pines = headache

I was shopping for a Bigshot online, but many vendors didn't have them in stock. Amazingly, my closest Stihl dealer had one with a trigger; they stock pretty limited arborist supplies. I'm still climbing the learning curve on trigger position. Seems like even a chilly morning versus a warm afternoon makes a difference in height. Limiting how far the weight flies sounds like a good thing to try.
 
I'd like to see a picture of how you arranged the bow release. I thought about using one before I found the $4 panic snap release I've been using.

I rest the pole on the ground. That's probably not as accurate for aiming, but for me it's steadier than using my shoulder.
I'll try to take a pic that shows my setup. I find that when I'm making a near-vertical shot, shooting from the shoulder is very steady. Once the angle drops, I'll set the base on the ground like you do.
