Awesome pics and work as usual, Tod. What a monster elm!! I always love the challenge of big spreading trees, but we have less of them in the PNW than back east.
A question for ya: Are you using UHMWPE lines yet? I've found them to be indispensable for lifting and speed line applications, due to their extemely high strength to size ratio. Are you using 5/8th line on the GRCS? Presently I don't have any, just our 9/16th, which is the optimum size for the GRCS, due to its too small capstan for our 3/4. So I use the Hobbs for its larger capstan. I think the 13000 tensile 9/16th is too small for shock loading applications like trunk lowering heavy wood. I'm sure the 5/8th would allow 4 raps on the GRCS, which should be adequate for shock loading. But our Puget Sound Ropes 19000 lb tensile fully static 9/16th is awesome for non shock loading work.
As well, I plan on putting some spectra on the chipper winch, and for that, unjacketed hollow braid should be OK. I was thinking of putting a jacket on the last 10 feet of line...
