Thoughts on a new truck

I bought a lil Nissan Versa for fuel saving. So much better to drive that around zip up n down the parkway pick up parts stay low key instead of a billboard driving around. Dodge dot n in a couple years dump it get a new one. I can't justifie driving a 70k pick up around bidding jobs from as low as 100 but up to 10k. Dosent make sense to me tc

Yeah I just got sick of keeping two vehicles clean, and maintained along with the rest of the equipment. I had a couple TDI jettas that I loved but I'm liking going down to fewer vehicles. I live in a semi rual area so I don't have to deal with inner city driving yet nothing's terribly far away either. I rarely travel farther than 15 or so miles for 99% of my estimates so my fuel saving didn't justify the added hasel and insurance costs. Everyone's situation is different tho, what works for me isn't everyone's best option.

Oh and I'm not driving a 70k truck either tho. I drive 20k trucks that I steal for 5 or 6 at auctions when they are not running.

Was finally on a pc instead of my Android and copy this pic of it from the dealer page. Now I just have to make a decision, lol.

Yea but I am going to bow out of it. Insurance will go up almost 1500 just because it is deemed commercial even though I am not a business. That along with the additional payments and fuel money just doesn't make financial sense. It would actually be cheaper to buy a beater truck and add it to my insurance than it would be to switch to this one, go figure. Oh well it was a good lesson in just because you want it doesn't mean you should buy it. Damn I think that is first time in my life I have ever said those words, lol.

That's the reason we run smaller equipment in California - operating costs. There is plenty of work for small to medium size jobs and we just rent a handful of times a year or sub the big stuff.

Yea Frank, I'm trying to hold off saying that for as long as possible

Do you do this work on the side? If so it probably makes sense to turn it into a part time business. Write offs are a plus, and you should probably get yourself some cheap insurance.

Treeline, to call it on the side would even be stretch. I really just do it for exercise, thirst of knowledge and to climb with some really cool guys. I do some work when the senerio is right or I can hook up with the right local guys, but a lot of the inquiries I get I pass on and give them the names of local guys who do this to pay bills and I have met since getting interested in tree work.

That was a big truck and a whole lot of red tape for a daily driver then. I think you made the right call. Have you considered a F150 twin turbo V6? They have Amazing towing capacity for their size, good mileage, and comfy as hell.

I have but just didn't make sense to swap pickups. My Tundra is only a 2010 Double cab with @100k miles. It is a great truck with 10k towing but the 3500 was just so cool looking, lol.
