This week has been amazing. And I\'m getting paid!
I have been a tree climber for all my life. I have been a certified arborist for 8 years. I have worked exclusively for small companies and my low wages reflected my commitment to interpersonal relationships and not my desire to make more money. I had a daughter and realized that my income was an important factor in my ability to provide for my family. I decided that I could do it better for myself by myself. I have been realizing that dream. I now live in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. I work mainly in the south of the state. My wife is from the greater Milwaukee area and she stays there when I work. I usually work about 3-5 days at a stretch and then take a break at home to rest and rejuvenate with the family. This past week I have been in Green Lake. It's the deepest lake in the US next to Crater lake from what I understand. It's not huge, but it's beautiful. The trees are huge all the way around it. Dave Ryan does a lot of good work there and is in my opinion a top notch arborist. He has me help out with his bigger jobs and it's been a great relationship for both of us. I love working with professionals like him! We communicate, we are safety conscious and we enjoy the climbs. We make good money and we have a good time. To me this is ideal. Today we are going to do a little recreational climbing and tomorrow I will leave after a full day. I won't work again for at least two weeks. This will be family time. I can't wait. Just thought that in this time of personal tragedies that I would sound off with something positive! I am grateful for the opportunities that have been presented to me. Happy climbing!
