this a test

Jim D. is doing some hoop-jumping trying to upload a panorama of the recent competition site. I was going to send him this thumbnail I'd extracted from the .mov file he sent me but his comcast system is not accepting e-mail from me so here it is.

What the heck, I ain't doin' nothin'. Here's the 2.5 MB file he sent me. It don't play for me. If if uploads okay maybe someone else can let me know how it fares for them. This ought to take a while (It's currently 22:12 here)...

Glen the attachment in your first post opens in Mozilla Firefox for me. Your second posting attachment comes back "page not found".

So I've successfully duplicated his effort.

Here's a .mov file of a different type and so far as I can tell it does nothing. Let's see if it'll "take" here anyway...

I wasn't watching the first (big) one. I'll try it again just for giggles while I study and maybe watch out of the corner of my eye.

Jim, the problem is not on your end. The server is hiccupping or something and I can't help with that if for no other reason than I don't have admin access to it (yet, Mark! :)

He wants what?

I keep telling people I'm a quality individual but few seem to believe me :)

If I had administrative access to (at least Mark's corner of) the server I could fix this type of stuff, as well every bit of what's cropped up as problems in the (recent; or since I've been here) past. I keep telling people I have the skills but few seem to believe me... :)

HA HA
dude im just toyin with ya, if you had access to marks side of the site, guys like me would somehow get deleted posts /forum/images/graemlins/hahaha.gif
not to say anything about your integrity, quality, or skills,
i know nothing about them,
i do know youlike to cap on people for having oversized photos,
so i took my shot, hope you can laugh at yourself as easily as i can laugh at myself /forum/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

I wouldn't want to be responsible for or take part in any editorial activity. Just helping keep things running smoothly in the technical aspects. One thing I'd definitely do would be to have a routine on the server make dialup-friendly-sized versions of all images (if/when needed) and offer links in the generated pages to both versions where applicable.

I realize, Mark, that most folks feel better about getting help with such things when they pay for it, which is why I've always suggested a nominal fee rather than purely gratis.

And the suggestion is not for you to relinquish any control, merely to share some.

That's still scary for me Glen. It's like opening the back door and saying "please be good with my stuff". I really think that you know far more than you need to in order to work with this software. That's not the issue. And I trust that you could fix problems as good as any I've paid to do that in the past. But, I'm still a bit scared! /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I feel for you Glens, in all the time I have known you ... you have been honest and a straight forward no BS shooter.

In fact I thought you were an accountant or some nerd style job guy. /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mark, trust is a funny thing, some say it should be earnt and others say it is granted.

A lot of time can be wasted and opportunities lost when waiting for the "right time" to grant it ... if at all.

The new modern way is to just give it, empower people with trust and guess what? Yep, things move along.

And in reality what risk is their, just back up the forum prior, get an agreement with him in writing, and delegate some responsibility so you have more time to do more meaningful things which you are better at.

Dont let fear and paranoia run your mind.

Thanks, Eric. I have worn and do wear many hats, but whatever it is I'm doing at the time I do it in the nerdiest fashion possible :)
