The new rope guide

Ekka my RG doesnt have bands either, never did, and it works fine. I think it was the model after ours, it did have a rubber band keeping the clevis pulley inline with the short sling, but they didnt last long.

Here Eric. It is a bigger file to show the detail, but might not be perfect. I took it yesterday. The one in the middle has the band. The left has no band and the right has the internal spring.

I've been here all a long, reading most of the posts but not had much in the way of sarcastic comments to post! Very busy getting my small business off the ground. Got some intersting locations/photo opportunities coming up so will be posting more soon.

BTW, Mark, have any of those RG's ever done any work? They all look too new!

I've got the original RG, but upgraded with the new pulley like version two. Also I've removed the ring and replaced it with a karabiner. That way you can unclip it and move it without unthreading the rope. Great bit of kit, will get the new one soon.

Hey Mark,
My new RG is on its way, but I have a question regarding the length of the webbing as compared to the length of the original rope. I will sometimes take a full wrap around a spar when installing my original RG if I am concerned it may slip down. I know of a few climbers that have taken spills when that happened. So my question is, How long is the new RG? Thanks
Bruce

There's two sizes Bruce. One is long (like Mahk and Tom said) and one is shorter, about 1/2 the other. You can switch it out with one screw if you need a different length. I have the new one in the shorter length right now and keep the RG2 around when I need the longer one. I think that I'd prefer the longer if I were to only order 1 size.

Hé Mark,

I have a question about the picture you posted with the three RG's.
Is the one on the right the new RG? Is it with webbing?
Yes? Great! Than we can call it a Cambium Saver instead of just a Friction Saver too.

Today I was straightening up my office and found a copy of the ART brochure for the RG. Take a look at one of the pages.

Tom,

You are quick! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif I was going to post about the spider jack, but didn't have a pic yet. Thanks!

Wolter,

That is with webbing and will be nicer to the tree for sure! /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif
