Yes, I've spiced it, Oceans, and Nick as I'm sure others have too. It splices up like a DB there is a thread on it here, but you will have to find it. It takes time, which is why it is not advertised as splice-able by most the suppliers. I believe treestuff will splice it but they charge a little more than a normal DB. There are some technique differences, but I'd say its about as hard as tachyon.
I'm having nightmares about splicing kernmaster. Waiting for some better splicing tools in the mail and trying to sack up. Could anyone please reference the directions u used?
I've been having a lot of trouble lately with the taper on the core. It always wants the come unbraided, resulting in only some of the strands pulling through leaving the other caught up and bunching the nice/clean taper that I need to bury the cover. I need some help with how to do this. Tips/tricks?
Tyler, what type of fid are you using to pull it through? I like to load the untapered core into the wire fid then as I'm pulling the core tail in start to taper it by cutting and removing strands.
That is most definitely Da Kine! That's awesome Tommy B, you definitely have the drive and patience to do some awesome splicing! I always thought that kernmantle rope had to have sewn eyes, now I have to try it out, just because I've seen someone else do it! Great splice, my fellow splicer.
P.I.T.A. - got it after my second attempt. I thought about having an eye put on it when I ordered it but thought how hard could it be? Probably won't be my last kermaster splice, but I don't think there will be too many more!
The Sheath is really a pain to get a clean path for the core to extruded w/o splitting or picking strands. If you pull some of the core from the end, tends to make opening the tight weave of the sheath. Be sure to have a lot of pull when burying the crossover.
